"So far, the virtual world’s user base seems largely receptive to the change. In an unscientific survey on my Second Life blog, reaction currently runs overwhelmingly positive, with nearly 70 percent describing themselves as satisfied — though much of them, just begrudgingly so." font: http://gigaom.com/2008/11/05/linden-lab-revises-rebellion-land-price-hike/

It's a survey on a web site and those are totally unreliable, but even so that 70% note is a few weeks old. At the moment the results on that survey are quite different. Answering "is the revision fair" the current numbers are don't know/care: 6.3%, no but willing to tolerate: 11.4%, yes, totally satisfied: 24.9%, no, and more misgivings: 49.2%, yes but with misgivings: 8.2%.

How large is the poll? 12 People? Give me a break. BTW the way the question and responses are so poorly written I doubt there is any value in it no matter what the results might show.

First of all you have absolutely no idea who is answering the poll and whether it is representative of OS renters Anyone can answer that poll, also it needs to be worded much better than that I'm doubtful any OS renters would say they are happy with the increase, the only compromise i would be happy with would be the $95 and that is all, given that we are having an increase shoved down our throats Also many have given up their islands already in protest of the increase because they just won't be able to afford it, and when the increases kick in it will get much worse

That's right, everyone's satisfied with having to pay more for less. Oy.

That poll is as reliable as me saying that 90% of SL users like pie... bad example .... 90% of SL users are nerds .... AHEM (shuffles notecards) ... It's like saying that 90% of SL users think Han shot first (he did).

It should also be noted that the guy who posted the article and the poll, Wagner James Au, is a former Linden and has never been reliable since he has a fairly blatant pro LL bias. His statements should be treated like those of Lindens when it comes to his covering Second Life and that is that they are pure propaganda.

NO-One is happy with it.

I said yes, with misgivings. I'll be happy with it if when the dominoes finish falling I'm be able to buy a Homestead outright. A piece of virtual land was never something I saw being forever. Even if it was just a change of terra forming, it was never going to remain a constant. So if the Homestead opportunity doesn't come along, I will instead be eventually be happy with whatever new experience I follow instead.

68% say they are against the price rises
11-27-2008 03:20
I have no idea where the 70% in favour comes the current poll status shows only 23% are completely happy and a further 8 happy but with reservations, this gives 68% that do not like the price rise. Well all i say is turkeys dont vote for christmas and when you piss off owners of 30% of the land in SL there are a lot of turkeys (no disrespect intended)

Also there are a lot of people who hate openspaces: Scripters who have to support customers where the openspace is lagging so hard scripts don't work well, people who feel that openspaces were killing the community feel on the mainland, mainland landlords who were losing business to openspace estates.
Those folks were probably pleased as punch about the news. But residents who actually wanted to use/live on openspaces were never even remotely happy about the change.

Oh how young you all really are. Yes this is the 'end' again, not quite. I am only three years old and I have seen far worse things come and go aside from tier hikes. Actually I saw those too. But just two years ago, the whole of Secondlife, was ending, as well. That would be the gambling ban and following bank and total finantial collapse. Upwards of a million real life dollars were lost, stolen, that sort. Trust me, this too shall pass, and be forgotten, until the next big drama that is.
And for the record, I like pie too. Count me in.

From: Michelle Thurston Can I have your stuff when you go? Hopefully, that was not serious. The sheople who stay and take this from parasite corporate America are really infected badly with addiction. New Year's Eve, we're having a sim destroying party. I might stay long enough to see that.

Life has to move on painfully at some point

And for the record, I like pie too. Count me in. I will be 3 in a couple of months and have seen alot of things good and bad happen with LL. The ban on gambling didn't hit me hard at all. I do miss the Gold Rush casino days when camping was fun. While waiting for a camping chair, I would watch the blackjack players, roulette wheel and the occasional request "baby blow on these dice for good luck" at the crap table. I also missed watching my boyfriend at the time playing Texas Hold Em and he would often give me 10K in LL and tell me here baby go by yourself something pretty and I take ya dancing when I'm done. But this openspace situation was the first time a change a LL policy impacted me. My partner and I traded in our openspace sims and purchased a full sim. We got a wonderful deal on it so I have no complaints there. But I already missed what some people termed isolation I call it privacy. Now when I step outside my home, over to the right I see a store that is on the next sim. It's nothing wrong with the store, it just reminds me how much has changed and how much I will miss. My husband tried to make light of the situation by saying baby we have neighbors and I just gave him a don't be funny glare. His response, ok dear tomorrow I will put some trees there so it won't be so obvious. /me will sorely miss my privacy.

Hey, I've been barking up that tree since the beginning of this thing, and that line of argument has been no more successful than 'How did so many people get taken by this? Doesn't anybody read?' People don't like it when you manage to not get screwed over and they did.
