And seriously, if you don't like the discussions within this forum...go back to Resident Answers. Nobody is forcing you to come in here.

Those of us who feel we are right in this matter, have a right to voice our unhappiness. And I will continue to do so right up until the day I have to abandon my sim because of this unconscionable action by LL.

The only RIGHT and FAIR thing for LL to do is to grandfather the existing OS sims, and put their new policies on any new purchases, and actually target those truly abusing their sims with 40 avs and thousands of scripts. I think every single one of us OS owners would be good with that.
Sure, you have every right to voice your opinions. I also realize my ability to unemotionally look at a situation from the perspective of a rational outside observer is unwelcome, but I have the right too (but you should see some of the IMs I've been getting in-world). I also have the right to observe, as I think any other rational person could observe, that at this point the tone is mostly one of shouting into the storm and entitlement and rage, and less of constructive discussion between two intelligent parties. People think this works?

You'll notice how effective rational argument can be: A LOT of people suggested a new region product and continuation of OSs for legitimate Open Space use, a plan I found entirely sensible and agreed with for what it's worth, and surprisingly enough Linden Labs WENT for it! I was amazed, I really wasn't expecting that, but they listened.

Except that both of these were scaled down compared to the original offer.

The changes did matter. I'm aware of at least one OS sim which was being used for education. The owners were ready and willing to go up to the US$125 tier - but after the amendments came in, the limitation of 20 avatars on a Homestead was introduced, which would make it useless for giving classes - so instead it will be abandoned.

There are two parties? Where? One party hasn't turned up for the discussion which has added to the rage. This is a rubbish platform for this sort of discussion mind you.

They did not listen, they saw a couple of ideas, repackaged the heinous price rise with marketing speak and pulled the wool over people's eyes. They nerfed the original Openspace concept badly. Everyone is being asked to pay more for less and still they won't explain what the heck is going on.

Ok, I'll grant you all of those points (What would be a better venue? In-world roundtables have never proved particularly effective on largely technical and referee grounds, and the blog discussion is a quagmire). But they compromised. There's a new product, and the blanket price increase that punished the good with the bad was repealed and the time scale changed. Whether or not this is going to work for everybody is another matter. Sometimes in a compromise not everybody can get 100% of what they want, and sometimes that's all you can do, for better or worse.

They didn't compromise. They introduced a new product that is far worse in terms of value than the existing one and worse than the original voids, that's not compromise it's paying lip service.

When the majority of users are causing a problem, it's a product issue not a user issue. Linden Lab have made no attempt to acknowledge their responsibility in this issue. That's not compromise.

There is a compromise staring them in the face mind you. Keep the price at USD$95, increase the prims on the other product to 1875 and plenty of people will swallow that. Plenty will still be peeved but that's an attempt at compromise.

You can't have a sensible discussion on an issue like this that causes harm to so many people. A Linden somwhere should be preparing a questions for Jack or M to answer from the thousands of posts about this issue.

Question number one should be "What are users paying more for" that simply hasn't been answered or addressed.
