Since I have already submitted is there anyway to update my application? I ended up cutting a good amount out of the description.

I think the problem may have been fixed. But please post if there are still issues.
@ Kilrathu - You don't need to re-apply. If you take the text and put it in an email addressed to lindenprize@lists.lindenlab.com, I'll be sure to update your application. |

@16,17,18 This is a known issue. Despite this bug, we still receive all of these emails, so none of these important submissions are being lost. Because the no-reply is confusing, one of our developers substituted the email address. It should be working at this time. Tell referrers and testimonial writers to add their content in the body of the email and hit reply. Please do not send the testimonials independently, because it may be difficult to trace it back to the original application. Again, we've been receiving all the emails up to this point. Thanks for bringing this up so I could report back on it. How about going back and sending an email to the reference and testimonial givers who received the confusing "no reply" version of the email? Let them know definitively how to submit their write ups. |

@15 The Linden Prize is open to all Residents, but the focus of this prize is on projects that have demonstrated real life impact. There are Residents doing amazing things strictly within SL that are having impact, but that's not the focus of *this* prize. Having said that, we debated different types of Prizes, all with the goal of showcasing the work, creativity and contributions of different Residents. As a result, I expect you'll see other contests and prizes in the future with different areas of focus. Thank you Everett for responding, now could you answer one more question: How is winning $10,000.00 from Linden Lab recognition from the Second Life Community? Thanks, Bob _____________________

@23,24
"I have my abstract under 200 words and my description under 600 but there seems to be a character limit to the text field which is chopping off a good chunk of both. Is this going to be fixed? Can you tell me what the character limit is?" This a problem with some programs which add additional characters--invisible to the writer--which then eats up all your space for describing your project. This problem has been fixed. All extra characters will now be visible to the writer, so you can edit out any of these space-eating characters. Thanks for bringing this up! |

questions on bio and recommendation/testimonial deadline
01-15-2009 13:05
2 questions:
-is it okay to include both SL and RL names in the bio? Because I feel both are equal contributors ![]() -what is the deadline for recommendations and testimonials? I assume the emails are automatically generated following the submission of the application--but how long do you give them to respond? Thanks On protecting RL names, identity and information for Linden Prize participants. Several questions and concerns have been raised by Residents about submitting RL information, so I want to clarify them for a wider audience here in the forum. The big message: Applicants, referrers, and testimonial writers will not have any RL information revealed to the public unless THEY want to. Specifics a. We ask for valid email addresses for applicants, references and testimonias so we can follow up about the project. b. Bios can be a RL or SL bio. Applicant chooses. c. In the vetting and judging process, any RL identifying information will not be shared among Resident judges. d. Finalists' projects will be made public. The finalists themselves can choose what identity they want to make public. e. The winning project will be made public and we will have a mixed-reality award ceremony. Again, the winner can choose what identity they want to make public. I hope that alleviates some of the concerns. Applicants--you can reassure the referrers and testimonial writers that they're identity is protected--so now they have no excuse for getting their submissions on time ![]() |

Well....
01-15-2009 16:22
Well, we submitted our application. Took a long time phrasing things and working on spacing, and finally go to submit the project and what do you know...the summary of our application is a massive block of text
![]() If you guys need us to tell you where to put the space breaks we'll gladly tell you. Good luck to everyone entering their projects. Looking forward to hearing about some of them. ![]() |

Hi,
A quick detail question: when is the deadline considered passed? at 11:59 PST or some other time zone? Thanks! Gnu |

@ Zsuzsa - You can include RL and SL names in the bio as long as you have permission from the people you are naming.
- We'd like all testimonials and reference to be on the 15th (yesterday) I'm still digging through all the applications and the judging will start today. In other words, if you haven't submitted your testimonials/references, you should ASAP. The application process closed at 12am SLT on the 16th. The application page itself will be taken down this morning. @ Siiaas - What was the name of your project? I'll take a look at the application and make sure it looks ok on my end. If not, you can send me an update personally. @ GnuEon - I consider the deadline to be 12am SLT on 16th. Every minute counts right! |

The title of the project is "NMU Speech-Language & Hearing Virtual Clinic." I have a copy of it as a PDF in case you need it. Looks like it didn't count space formatting for the team biography section, either.

@ Siiaas - The abstract and description look complete on my end. If you want to email the text to confirm, please feel free and I'll send a confirmation that it is correct.

Application submitted. This is such an exciting concept! Maybe i am blonde ( ok I am Rl/SL) but are there any prizes for the top 9 winners or does it just apply to #1? The deadline for the judging concludes in April, out of curiosity have you gotten that many application that it will take 3 months to choose a winner? Will you be following up with the runner ups for with questions to decide the final winner?
of course, the recognition for being in the Top 9 is quite an accomplishment on its own ![]() _____________________
