From: Usagi Musashi OMG this rumor again? it seems to surface every so offen. But really who would buy this mess? COUGH COUGH IBM again .ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm don`t count onthat either BTW the example of IBM on Sl is something that has been talked about over and over again. I don`t buy the concept in any way shape or form. Can`t believe how much this issues been pushed and pushed down out mouths. Sell it to microsoft or SOE, they buy everything.

Philip should have plenty of funds - he's certainly raised a great deal of VC during SL's existence.
At this point he probably doesn't feel the need to look for funding, or a buyer.
Far more importantly he doesn't WANT to sell SL. It's his baby, his dream... it's a pity he seems to have no idea how far the reality of SL has departed from his dream, but it's just not possible to tell him this. I've personally witnessed him declaring that problems WE all know exist... don't exist.
It's kind of spooky - like talking to a flat earther. Because he doesn't want to believe how things really are, he simply refuses to accept that problems, real day to day problems we all live with, exist...
I guess this helps him to stand up at various venues and present SL in a way that completely overlooks any problems. Like most good salesmen he REALLY believes in his product - not as it is, but in a idealised form that exists only in his head.
Fine. In a salesman.
A disaster in the making in a CEO.

Inigo, if Mr. Rosedale is not just putting a good front on for press/investors, if he truly believes that all is OK in SL, then you are very right and I am very sad. Having leadership in a state of denial is an extremely common cause of startup failure.
Even when a product is very good, there is always need for quick corrective action when in a growth stage like LL's current one. Corrective action cannot happen if the leadership refuses to acknowledge problems.
I hate doomsaying, but there is a caution that LL's leadership should hear: if LL's projected business model depends on a stable and growing core of residents, then that business model is now endangered due to instability of the platform. If, however, LL can make do with only new residents and a constant churn of the userbase, then perhaps things are proceeding according to plan.
/me trembles, knowing how common denial is among CTOs, which after all is Mr. Rosedale's background.
