No one ever quits Second Life. Its against the Terms of Agreement the Lindens make us sign. If we try to quit, they might ban us.

Or that they're that disgusted that they log out, never to come back again.

I'm thinking wether the unasked for reception of a landmark with no clear description of what it actually is (or rather in what kind of area it leads you) can be seen as (sexual) harassment and therefore as abuse report material.

I myself would be MAJORLY ticked off in that case - teleporting and finding myself in a BDSM studio or something like that without prior indication. Given the choice, I steer clear of such things in SL and landmarks where I'd know they lead to such places usually go direct into the trashbin.

And you did the right thing. No need to overburden an already shaky system with needless reports. Just because you are sent a LM unsolicited, it doesn't mean you HAVE to go there.

I should point out that I am NOT the one giving out Hard Alley Landmarks in the Welcome Area. I also do not allow my employees to give out Hard Alley Landmarks in other sites unless asked. I think it is extremely rude to go to someone else's site and start advertising your own.

No one will ever receive an unsolicited LM for any of my sites from me or any of my staff.

LOL - that explains that 7.5 million sign ups number ...

I just mean people who go to your sim all wide-eyed and innocent might get the wrong idea of what SL is about.

Yours is a sim that really is for people who at least know what SL is first.

Might be just as likely someone looking to get you banned is handing out the land marks ... hoping to drum up a negative reaction among noobies.

The way things go...

Second Life.
"Your world... NOT!"
"Our imagination"
"Your money ours"

Really LL bring a linden with legal knowledge, not a technical support people without legal knowledge, we need legal counsel on what we can safely bring in regardless of what the "moral" groups think is best.

Morality that makes my second life good for "others" instead for me is wrong.

LT.

Broadly Offensive!!!!

I am trying not to laugh at how childish and stupidly weak minded those complainers are. First if you get offended by something stay the hell away from those areas. Is that too hard, I think those who find it offensive have mental problems still under developed brains.

Personally I think it's all overreacting.

Those complaining are overreacting because there are plenty of places to visit in Second Life and have fun, that have nothing to do with anything related to sex or people's perverse proclivities. Those fearing censorship are overreacting because all Linden is doing is posturing for the press.

Like the Internet as a whole, Second Life is driven by sex more then any other industry. And like the Internet, every once and awhile, there is a big to do about regulating the online sex community, new restrictions and regulations, tougher policing standards, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, but it turns out to be nothing more then hot air and rhetoric. The same will ring true here.

Just my humble opinion - Klaus

I agree. I have worked in the adult industry designing websites for individual entertainers and for adult companies for close to 10 years now and it's become comical how many times these right wingers have been shut down trying to dictate to the adult industry. I think actually another attempt to force the industry to do a parent's job for them just got shut down by the Supreme Court two months ago. For like the fifth time. Hasn't mattered how they reword it, the answer is still no.

There really is no excuse for parents expecting the government and/or anyone else to do their jobs for them. And people who are being judgmental without using their kids as excuses and don't like certain parts of SL have plenty of room to give those parts a wide berth. Of course, there are people who probably still think the wheel is evil, so what do I know?

Northbound Zax, Southbound Zax...whose gonna crack first huh? Hehe

It was said mostly in jest. I've never sent a wide-eyed brand new newbie to Hard Alley. We were all new once, gotta help them along if you can. =)

However, I have given the landmark to a few "newbie" greifers before. But honestly, most of them probably knew what it was beforehand and teleported to it anyway, lol.

Smell is coming to SL in v2.5, right after Havok 4 & HTML-On-A-Prim.

(besides the smell, they are quite tasty tho! :D)

Broadly Offensive is here, and it's here to stay!

they can rant and rail and bitch and whine all they like, but the truth is it's damn near impossible to police all of SL. Even with griefergroups like the JLU and the volunteers and all the others they got running around playing morons and robbers, it still seems like an awful lot to police.

And the truth is I haven't seen anywhere where it explicitely bans anything, other than sexual ageplay. People are overreacting and acting like idiots, is all I really see.
