I'm doing a research paper for English class, and have questions about sports in Second Life and hope you can take a couple minutes to answer my questions. The questions at the beginning are strictly for demographic purposes and all of your answers will be confidential and secure.

The link to the survey is: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=4OeFzHtq3wrI_2f8_2btf8U39A_3d_3d

Thank you very much for your time and for helping me out with this. I look forward to finding out more about sports in Second Life.

Hope you have a thick skin because some people don't like surveys.

You could do with an "other" option, there are sports outside those you've listed that are played in SL.

I've never done one of these surveys and I won't do this one - simply because I don't do surveys. But I have to say that this survey's topic is refreshing - Sports in SL. Normally, they all look the same to me when I read the posts, but this one seems to be different - specialised. For that reason, I hope that this thread doesn't go the way of most 'survey' threads here.

Is 'escorting' in SL really considered a sport?

I am trying to imagine why an English class would require a student to do a survey on sports in SL . . .

It could be a self-chosen topic for an english class project..

Yes, I can buy that. But why would that require a survey, with demographic data?

I suppose it could be a tech writing course . . .

I could buy that if it were an existing resident doing this. But this guy appears to have created an account specifically for this "assignment", which begs the questions: Where did he here about Second Life? How did he make the arbitrary connection between sports and Second Life? And who directed him to these forums?

This just doesn't smell right to me.

"Sports" is another word for mutations.

The "Hatchies" (Hatchling Dragons for those who don't know :p) on the Isle of Wryms play soccer, ice skate, ice sled and ice fish during the winter.

...or so I'm told. ;)

The Isle of Wryms you say?

I'm assuming only those with scrupulous personal hygiene need apply?

Adult dragons, definitely. But you know, kids will be kids and the adults need to teach them. ;)

/me looks for Talarus for a better answer :)

I haven't heard much about sports in SL, actually, with the notable exception of the Global Online Hockey Association, which is an actual ice hockey league that has teams, a schedule, playoffs, officials, the whole shebang. There was even a story on CNN about it. I have no interest in promoting it (other than I think it's kind of cool) but I mention it because hockey is not one of the choices in the survey.

What's sports gotta do with English class? Jocks can't read. That's why they do sports. I loved English class. Hated sports with a passion.
