Has anyone thought about the children?!

Are the people from the teen grid psychologically prepared the be blamed for everything that goes wrong with SL like how it happens with free accounts etc ? I don't know the peeps over the teen grid enough to be able to judge this, but, considering all the protections people try to put in place for them it seems there might be a possibility they aren't I guess...

... Psychologically prepared? Is this "Event of merge" scenario?

I've seen countless people mention this thing with the creation of the adult verified only continent and moving of adult content was part of the plans to bring the teen grid and the main grid toghether

I think the only people who would have a problem with a grid merge would be us.

And kids are resilient....do you think they're going to give a damn if anyone here blames the collapse of the adult grid on them, or lag, or lost connections?

We thought of the children - which is why Second Life is adult only.. see.. we good..

Now, as far as what happens when you merge the two.. that is called First Life.. something most people came here to escape.

before I start talking more, could someone gimme the link to where they say they are or aren't gonna be legalizing the presence of teens on the main grid please? (with certain areas restricted etc)

I set up my niece's account for her on the teen grid. I tried to get her to run a business there but the biggest activity there was sitting on the roof of nightclubs (not going in) with throngs of her slacker friends (not unlike the 'adults' in Ahern). I did get her to DJ a little but that called for her being on her 512 - and the party was on the roof of an abandoned nightclub.

I do not know what children will do on the adult grid except disrupt adult activities. Their idea of a long term commitment is four days. I think we can look forward to the return of huge immature greifer gangs. Welcome back to 2006.

hm, ok, if those statements are officially acknowledged by LL as the company's official standing (ignoring the part about the conTORtinent and other things not quite on topic), I guess we can consider this thread as done and my sources in this aspect as riding on rumours

Is 'merging grids' the same as allowing kids in? Not necessarily.

Good question, we all know how addicting sl can be for the first year or so. Especially if one is lucky enough to find a nitche that pushes all the right buttons. Is this a responsible thing to expose young preteens to?. The claim is that they want to educate them. But I have to wonder how badly their rl grades are going to slip, after they start sneaking on till 2 am to spend time here, night after night, after night.

Sneaking in yes. And doing what, when unattended. Going to PG clubs then back to someone's skybox?
