I am in the market for a multi-function HUD and have been looking at Mystitool and Omicron. Which one is the better of the two? What are the pros and/or cons of each from users of the devices?
Thanks

Here's my recent post on Mystitool:
/327/a5/232484/2.html Absolutely love it....can't say enough good things about it....use it every day. There is a free version as well. Not as many options but depending what you want it for, still a darned good HUD. Not in world atm for lm, but do a search on Mystical Cookie (the creator) or Mystitool and it should point you to it. |

I use the mystitool - i have never use omicron.
I love the mystitool, it tells me when people are in range, there is a platform rezzer so i can build in private in the sandboxes, there is a posing stand, a sky platform, it records tp history...the list goes on and on. There is even an implant with a facelight and particle effect - which you can turn off and change the colours and intensity of the light. I have not yet come across any bad points to it. As I cannot offer an opinion on the omicron i am not going to tell you which to buy. However, if you go to Mystical Cookie's store you can pick up a free version. It does not have everything but it is good to see why people like it so much. I have the LM for you if you want. _____________________

Caledon Victoria City has a free Mystitool by the hub on the carts - it doesn't do everything, but it does a lot and wow is the price right

It records TP history? I had no idea. That would be really handy. I got one so I could become non-physical in sandboxes, but then the sandbox I frequented makes you take off scripted objects before entering, so I quit using it. I'll have to look into that again. |

I use my mystitool to put on movelock inunscripted areas. This Omicron seems to be a little more agressive - but its HUD interface seems to be more user-friendly. It is 3 times the price of the mystitool though.

MystiTool is pretty easy to use and has a lot of functions, although I haven't used probably 90% of them yet, when I even remember to attach it.

Yes, it is on the same page as emote and the rezzers. There is also a place for you to put your landmarks but i haven't used that yet. I have mine attached permanently and it is copyable so i can put a copy in evry outfit folder yey!lol. _____________________

I think the only thing the Mystitool doesn't do is act as an AO.. that I know of. I've got the full version and I adore it, although I haven't used half the tools yet.

I use full version mystitools on my main and have the free version on my alts and love it.
The full version has some facial animations, like happy, sad, angry, stick out you tongue and others, as well as a few other fun bits, under the AV Toys section. |

I don't know about the Omiron, but the MystiTool was introduced to me via the freebie back when I was (more of) a noob. At the time, I had no use for it. I didn't want anything getting in the way of what I was doing on screen. My patient friend who tried to get me to use it went so far as to give me the notecards on what it did. I had no use for it. Everything it did, you could do with SL tools.
That was then. About a month ago someone suggested it to me. I told them I wasn't interested and that I'd been here over a year without it, I think I can survive. They bought it for me anyways. Little did I know of the functionality of this bad boy. Woah! I have completely done away with my landmarks in inventory. Every one of them is in the tool. It rezzes even when you can't drag from inventory! Bad sandbox lag BEGONE! Wow. Tap, rez, sit, zoom, platform. Faster than I could do it myself. The TP history is awesome! The emoters I've only used once. But then again, I never did use emoters to begin with. The Follower is absolutely the best for when you're hanging with friends in a mall and need to go AFK. Rez, sit, let it follow your friend while you go take care of business. You can put your own rezable items in it too. You don't have to use theirs. The follow camera is awesome as well. Rez it and it follows your camera so people know exactly where you're looking, even if your av is standing still. No more having to find their dotted lines! There's a rezzer that you can have multiple friends sit on and follow you around as well. Perfect if you want to give a guided tour someplace. Once I figure out which button you use to get it to write scripts, I'm going to take over the world. A _____________________

I've been using the mystitool ever since my first week in SL....I couldn't live without the TP history thing and the av radar...I feel like I'm blind without it. Not to mention all the other snazzy stuff in it! Facelight, heh....

Another vote for Mystitool. I'm only using the freebie but it's amazing. Especially love knowing how close other av's are in the area. I've been thinking of upgrading to the full version, not like it's that much money but the free one is so useful as is for me, so far I just haven't done so.

I have mine attached permanently and it is copyable so i can put a copy in evry outfit folder yey!lol. Hi Claire! You may already have thought of this...but wanted to pass along my recent experience just in case.... I also have my Mysti attached all the time and then a few months ago, decided for "efficiency in speedier dressing" put a copy in all my outfit folders. Worked great! Then one day I did some reorganizing of my Mysti - taking out old lm's, putting new ones in, etc. A few days later, I tried to pull up one of the new lm's and it wasn't there. And to my horror....NONE of the new changes had "taken" - or so I thought. As I discovered that day, updating the Mysti in one folder does not affect the others. (Of course I didn't know that until my Partner came online and I began wailing that my Mysti wouldn't update for some reason and he clued me in )I spent quite a bit of time attaching/checking/detaching/rinse/repeat all my Mysti copies until I found the one I had been wearing when I did the updates. ![]() So now I have a folder at the top of my inventory that is called "Must Haves" and everything I wear daily that is either not copyable or "globally updateable" goes in there along with my ever-faithful Mysti. |
