DONT!

The live chat is never any support...
Being able to call will again get you no support..

I say this because I've been charged twice for my yearly account once last month and again this month.
I've used the "support" channels the Lab has in place and been told I have to wait for the refund dept.
The charge last month wasnt even the month I get charged in...

DONT go for a paid account you will get no better or faster support its just simply not worth it.

SSOO glad I have moved my company out of second life!

Live Chat used to be a useful feature and actually worth a few bucks a month.

Now that part of it has been outsourced, it has become next to worthless. I got an actual Linden who was helpful on an in-world problem recently. I got the others to whom support was outsourced in a technical problem, and they were useless.

It is the most poorly run company in the history of the world and only succeeds because there is no competition.

They will refund your money eventually, though.

I enjoy my premium account and the ability to buy mainland it provides. But then I've never felt I needed to contact support. The land and the stipend are enough for me.

Here is a good place to remind everyone that, though I have a premium account, I know that "free" accounts are not freeloaders. They still bring revenue in world every time someone buys L$'s.

When you get a premium account you are not paying for support, who gave you that idea?

A premium account gives you the ability to own land on the mainland. Nothing more, nothing less. I thought that was quite well known by everybody in SL for approximately the last two years, ever since they killed off the in-world live support and made it Concierge ($125 a month or higher) only. It still isn't understood yet?

Eh...

I always get good results with live chat support.

Plus, there are the other benefits of being premium - owning mainland and the stipend.

but, but, but.... all the cool kids are buying Zindra-land.

("kids" in this post in no way endorses the act of child avatars appearing or not appearing or considering to appear, or adult avatars who kinda sorta might be confused with child avatars acting in any way that might lead to another flame war.)

Same here. The amount of stipend received over the year works out about half of yearly account fee to LL as long as you are not holding more than 512 sqm of land of course.

Oh BOO HOO, now no one else should go premium because of your experience?

I'm glad you moved your "company" out of SL as well.

Never thought i would see a corporate type come complain about $72usd.

This coming October I'll have been a premium account member in one way or another for 4 years. During that period of time I've had the occassions to contact support no less than 5 times. First occassion was when I created this account and wanted to transfer the first premium account to me (in other words switch my accounts)...........one short phone call and it was done. No hassle, no fuss, no down time, no lost stipend...........everything worked like clock work. Second occassion was when I deeded my land to my group and a good RL friend was also an owner........we wanted change that back to me as the sole owner and didn't know how so we contacted Live Chat. A Linden showed up within minutes and walked us through the process. No hassle, no lost land, no sweat........easy as pie. The third and fourth times had to do with phantom prims or griefer attack originating on Linden Protected land..........contacted Live Chat and again a Linden arrived in almost no time. Problem solved in less than 2 minutes. No hassle, no fuss, the sim didn't crash, and the Linden even hung around for a bit to make sure the griefer did not return as an alt one of those times. The last time was just a few weeks ago. I wanted to change my payment method from Visa CC to PayPal. I'd heard horror stories about how it fails, accounts get deleted due to non payment, etc. I called LL's billing number. No hold time to speak of, got a live person who spoke excellent English (though I believe it was one of those outsourced CSR's). Asked my questions, the person repeated my questions to make sure he understood.......took care of it in less than 5 minutes. My account billing flowed seamlessly from Visa to PayPal.

So..............I just can't believe all I'm hearing here in this thread. I've had nothing but prompt, courteous service. I'm wondering if maybe it's the way one approaches the problem or whatever it is you want to change, fix, or question. Come on strong, ready for a fight, you'll probably get one. Come on calm and polite, you are likely to receive the same in return. I don't know..........I've heard these stories for a long time. However, most of the stories are from basic accounts and most of those who complain toss out the "poor me, I don't count because I'm not premium". I guess I believe the basics don't get quite the same service as premiums..........but I don't see that as a problem either.

I've used live support also with prompt results. Actually much faster than filing a ticket. I filed a ticket recently, waited two days, no response. Went to live chat support and a Linden fixed the problem while we were talking.

I'm prefectly fine with my premium account. I get all the support I want and the weekly stipend (hooray) makes a premium account a lot less expensive.

But... the OP has a point. For Petes sake, WHY doesn't LL give more privileges to premium accounts? Or less to free accounts? For the love of god, I can't understand that. It's just poor marketing.

I'm sure it's like many of LL's plans for Second Life. A long time ago, they had great ideas about how to make Premium accounts worthwhile and entice people into upgrading to them. Somewhere between idea and implementation, they lost interest and their attention focused on their next great idea. And before they could implement that great idea, they lost interest in favor of the next great idea ... and so on ...
