I'd personally like to see an even spread of daylight and nighttime hours. maybe 2 and 2 for each cycle. I rather enjoy the nights, usually alot more than the days.

Better a chav than a yob, Porky ![]() Actually, Americans still use Eskimo. They'll catch up, no worries. Yo, Herzog, your IM mailbox is full! B. We use Inuit, not Eskimo. At least around here we do. America is big. I can't speak for other areas. We also tend to differentiate amongst the various tribes in the area - Haida, Puyallup, Nisqually, Tulalip, rather than use more generic terms, although Native American or something along those lines is perfectly acceptable. "Indian" isn't widely accepted any more. Honestly, most of the Native Americans I know couldn't give a rat's ass what you call them. I have to admit - I find the Northwest native culture absolutely fascinating. _____________________

has anyone ever been to the vey edge of SL ? Does it just stop? Do you fall off the edge LOL ? is there a sign saying " You have reached the edge" hee hee and when you stand there you can look out into the Real World and see the Lindens all sitting there in their offices drinking coffee and they wave back and shout "Darn it!!! there is another one of our residents trying to escape" !!! just wondering really ! I know of a nice island-like space at the upper edge of the Heterocera Atoll that I like to think of as the farthest point (even if it isn't. My world, my imagination, nya nya!). That or the Magellan wreck in Squall. Mari _____________________

Ahem, Porky That's "inuit" or "innuit" ![]() You read my mind. I found the history of ppl native to the Canadian land so interesting when I was in school. The fact that its so much more diverse then you can imagine. _____________________

One of my first BIG disappointments in SL was "hitting the end of the world." The command driven MU**'s where I cut my teeth long ago were walkable and either circular or spherical. Since I learned the ropes on the NMC islands, I found the end of the world just by not being able to fly over ocean. It's a wall just like a ban line. SL seems like a big place which is why hitting up against the end of it feels so weird.

I remember a rumour from years back that said if you flew into the eastern edge of the world at a certain set of coordinates then you would arrive in the teen grid. I remeber it was over 750m up but can't remember the coordinates. Totally impossible I know but it didnt stop us trying

Something I have always wondered...its 11:35AM yet with my environmental editor set to region default its pitch black with twinkling stars. As far as I know there are very few places in on earth where it's dark at 11:35AM so why is SL? Surely it cant be that hard to cycle the sun in synch with PST as default? Sorry to be really really pedantic but at 11:35am PST I think it would be about dawn on the dateline and about dusk in Europe. All of Asia and half of Africa would be dark. I doubt there is a time when more people in the world would be in darkness. Of course this has nothing to do with SL time or how many SL users see darkness out of their RL windows. |

I actually have used midnight in some RP enough to know when SL midnights happen. 1)Midnight pdt; 2) 4am pdt; 3) 8am pdt: 4) noon 5) 4pm pdt 6 )8pm pdt 7) Noon pdt
I have a plant that has an effect at each SL midnight. |
