When I price things in my store, i look at pricing them competitively for the market and the item. I also tend to release them at a low price and increase it later. I give away the new item to my group because if they use it or display it, that is free advertising for me. I find that be doing this, I get alot of people referring friends to my store to get the new "couch" or whatever they saw out in the world.

For me, it doesnt matter how much time i spent making it, how intricate it is or how much creative effort i put into it. What matters to me is that my customers see that it is failry priced, a good value and that i have good sales on the item. Pricing items too high because you value your time doesnt matter to customers.

My advice is...if something if priced so that it is not selling you need to promote that item specifically through whatever means you choose, lower the price, give some away and get some buzz going about it.

This works very well for me and allows me to have great sales for which i make RL money which for me is the goal.

Well I got the silks- i loved them - that's why i bought them at the original price. They were expensive yes- but they are also exceptional work! If I didn't want them I wouldn't have bought them.

I did miss seeing the gift card thingie though... makes note to recheck- hey- I love shopping!

Edited to add they look lovely as body jewelry- I don't dare wear them with out! Wow-

I disagree with Desmond on this one, and agree with Rha's instinctive feeling that the item was priced too high.

Maybe it's just me, but I start to get very uncomfortable when I see items priced at L$1000 and above...whereas I will pay L$500 in a heartbeat for a great many things.

I'll pay over L$1000 for a really fine formal dress, and a lot more than that for a populated AO or a skin, but those are the exceptions.

I saw some lovely jewelry the other day that I would have liked, but turned away when I saw that each piece was L$1,000.

I am sure that I'm strange and not to go by me, but - I'm incredibly annoyed if I buy something and then turn around and see the exact same item, no changes - not even moved to a discount section, suddenly cost a significantly lower amount of money. Especially if I just bought it. Especially if I joined the group and within a week, or less, I get about 20 group notices about the great new rates. Not a sale, new price level.

Again, I'm strange, I admit that, but that just annoys me. I've actually stopped buying from places that did this price change. Stopped more because I have no idea what is going on. Do I buy more clothes/cars/whatever immediately, only to get a bunch more notices saying that there is yet another price decrease?

Do not forget that I admitted being strange.

I would just lower my price. I doubt any past customers would be upset. They decided it was worth the original price to them.

Prices change and values change as things go on.

I disagree. I like dressing in nothing.

I generally agree, Lindal. When you talk about intricate texture work with baked shadows and lots of layers, sculpted prim attachments, yes that is worth 1k. Even though the prim work here is very good, I couldn't find it in me to pay quite that much. But that is just me.
