What happens when you get burned out on SL, but don't really want to leave?
You log in, do the job stuff (have a RL job which takes place in SL) then when it comes time to play, you just... don't wanna.
yet you still do not want to close up and walk away.
I speak of my shop mainly.
I have not made anything new since the start of Jan. I still can not muster up the desire or motivation to make stuff.
(store still selling stuff so not closing down as of yet hehe)
I miss when SL had that magic for me, that sparkling new oh-my-gosh-that-is-so-cool magic....

When I get burned out on SL, I get back into WoW. When I get burned out on WoW, I go back to SL. Never a dull moment!

Try something new. I recently started making videos in SL. I can assure you, that keeps you busy for a while. And it's very addictive!

Right now I am burnt out on both though,so playing other games. I always follow forums though. That's one thing I never get sick of.

Other 'games' never hold my attention.
When i get bored in SL, i radically change some aspect of my lifestyle. This is always good for getting you a new circle of friends and experiences.

I started playing Bejeweled, and watching shows that I missed from TV, e.g., Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Legend of the Seeker, etc. on Hulu.com.

From: Rhaorth Antonelli tried the EQ2 free trial did not like it Well, it's awesome, so there. Meh, different strokes, right? =P I played EQ1 for forever, and moved to EQ2 when it came out, so I'm kinda just used to it. EQ1 was better originally, I think. Anywho, off to SL land.

You have a little over a year on me, Rha, but already I sort of know what you mean. Sometimes I look at SL as one big way for all of us to step out, strut our stuff -- stuff many of us never had in real life, and also to show off our taste and creativity. The sad thing is, everyone's so busy doing that, no one is beholding or admiring all the strutting and the creativity. That is NOT entirely true -- the current thread with pictures of people's homes is really inspiring to me -- it just feels true sometimes. When that happens, I rediscover the joys of reading, or just listening to music, I mean really listening not just as background, walks in the park in real life with someone special, an afternoon sharing Earl Grey infused chocolate and poetry readings with a friend . . . So far after a break like that I've always gotten fired up about some new project or other and then SL has the magic back.

Find a partner and work your way through all the pose balls! Change gender for a while (easy if your name isn't gender specific)- if you're a guy, it can be an eye opener being female (and I don't mean the cyber sex) Some guys attitudes to females in here are positively neanderthal. Try the role playing groups. Create an alt and come back as a completely different person - your own personal role play

I mainly tried having as much random sex as possible but that didn't help any more than it does in RL

Susie's idea isn't bad For me though, if I was feeling like that I'd know for sure that it was due to there being too much work and seriousness in my play venue. Many many times you hear about someone making a career out of their favorite hobby, and they'll tell you that it becomes ho hum and the motivation/excitement leaves after it becomes less of a joy and more like work. I'd say take the SL social break, but if that doesnt work, take a break from photoshop and the store and go all social for a short while. Kick your heels up a bit and just enjoy without the store's tedium tempering your enjoyment.

From: Rhaorth Antonelli What happens when you get burned out on SL, but don't really want to leave? Take some time away from SL or even computer completely if necessary. If/when one returns to SL after that, one can find a whole new pot of beans to delve into, and decide whether you might be able to add some spice to it. (When did I turn into Dr. Phil?)
