Ok, thanks. One more question that I've asked before but never got an answer. Does the $0.30 fee for buying L$ count toward your monthly limit? In other words, if my limit is $10, does that mean I can only $9.70 worth of Lindens?

You know, I actually am not sure on that one.

Yes, it does. If you buy US$10 worth of lindens, you will get $9.70 at the exchange rate and 30 cents paid for the transfer fee. All told, 10 bucks spent and it all applies to the buy limit.

If you have a Verified PayPal account, which as I recall should mean that you have set up a "backup payment method", then you can buy L$ for amounts in excess of what is your current balance in PayPal, and the difference comes out of the alternate payment source, which is most often your bank checking account. If the alternate source is refused (like if your checking is also overdrawn), then the attempt to purchase more than you have in your PayPal balance will also be declined, and the purchase will fail.

When establishing payment info with LL, they attempt to authorize a $1 USD charge against that source, then release the authorization. Many banks flag this as "suspicious activity", because it is LL's UK branch that makes the charges. So if you are not in the UK at the time, it seems odd that "someone in the UK used your card". For some reason it shows up entirely different than any normal Internet purchase from, say, Amazon.com.uk. My family purchase books all the time via the Amazon.com UK branch, and it never gets questioned. But the LL charges ALWAYS get a query from the bank, when setting up a new SL account, to verify that we really made a charge with this company in the UK.

After you file the payment info on the website, you must purchase at least $2.50 USD worth of L$ on Lindex to get the "Payment Info Used" status in-world. "Payment Info On File" does not functionally exist for new accounts. That linkage has been broken and not fixed by LL for well over a year now.

Hmm, well I just gave LL payment info in the form of my PayPal account a couple days ago and my profile said "Payment Info On File." It says Payment Info Used now though, since I bought some L$.

That is the first success I have heard of in a year, without the purchase of some L$ or a Premium membership by that avatar, and an instant switch to Payment info used. I will be very glad if they finally fixed that bug!
