I inadvertently returned all my own objects from a land parcel. I think they all appeared in my 'Lost and Found' folder as a very large linked object (but with the linkset named after one of the objects in the set).
I tried to rezz this linked object, but SL told me it could not be done -- and then, apparently, deleted the whole lot. None of the objects are on my land, or my inventory, and the Lost and Found linkset has also vanished. I have tried deleting the client cache, to no avail.
Most of the objects are/were not copiable or transferrable, so I do not have backups. Total value at least 5000 L.
Are they gone forever?

Look in your trash?
Generally, if it was a very large parcel and/or a lot of prims, you will need to go to a very large parcel like a huge sandbox to safely rez the coallesced objects. If any of the linksets attempt to rez over a parcel that doesn't have enough prims to support that linkset's prim count, or over a parcel that you don't have Build rights for, the rez will fail.

Yes, the rezz failed. Naively, I imagined that after the failed rezz, the linkset would be returned to my inventory. SL has wiped it instead.

Are you Premium? It's vaguely possible someone on Live Chat may be able to reset your inventory.

From: Peace Fullstop Are they gone forever? Most likely. LL decided they are blameless when they pick your pocket and delete something you paid real money for. /327/a6/270543/1.html.

Maybe...apparently they've been doing it with all those disappearing HUDs people have been having, but this is kind of a different circumstance, so I don't know if the same process would work. The other question is, even if they can, will they? Or will they just go with the 'too bad, so sad' line of response?

When I accidentally returned everything on my parcel, it was returned to my 'object' folder, so make sure you check there also.

I did the same thing last night. Fortunately, in my case, there were no non-copy items in the linkset. I do feel for those it has happened to, though.

OP is not saying it wasn't in the folder originally. OP is saying that when he/she went to rez it out of the lost and found, it disappeared. i wish they would all bust up and fly into the objects folder... at least then we'd get our stuff back. but that's not what happens with this glitch. it just "disappears". it doesn't rez, it doesn't come back, it doesn't do anything. it's as if it was deleted from inventory, never to be heard from again. bummer.

File a support ticket immediately. The sooner you report the loss the better a chance you have of getting your stuff back. There must have been some no-copy stuff in your Lost and Found bundle. That's why it disappeared from your inventory when the rez failed.

Yes, the rezz failed. Naively, I imagined that after the failed rezz, the linkset would be returned to my inventory. SL has wiped it instead. It isn't a linkset - it's a coalesced group of objects. I had something fail to rez today but after a while I received an "unable to rez in a timely manner" notice and it finally came back. I hope your objects show up again. Look in Lost and Found in case it went there.

This story has a happy ending !
I requested a sim rollback (I am the estate manager, and there is only one tenant). And I got the rollback 3 minutes later. Everything restored. I'm impressed.
Thanks for all the help, information and sympathy from other residents here.
Lesson learnt: when building or experimenting, subdivide so you work on the smallest parcel possible. Join the parcels when you have finished.
