So I just started Second Life yesterday and when I signed up for an account it made me choose some sort of location and I just picked the one it gave me because it said I could change it. My map says I'm somewhere in the UK, how do I get to other countries? And how do I get out of the tutorial place to find an actual town where I can earn some L$?

We have REGIONS, also known as SIMs. Are you In World now? I will send you a TP! (teleport) ![]() _____________________

And how do I get out of the tutorial place to find an actual town where I can earn some L$? Just FYI... earning L$ is not really the point of SL. Having fun, exploring your creative side, meeting cool people, is more the "point" of SL. You can exist in SL without needing any L$ whatsoever. There are many many neat things that are free; we can give you LandMarks to places where you can pick up loads of "freebies." The only REAL reason you'd need L$ in SL would be to buy other, non-free stuff, which is completely unnecessary, or to buy land, which is also unnecessary. Lots of us are happily homeless. ![]() And welcome to Second Life! |

(Regarding L$... if you decide that you absolutely do need them, I promise you that the easiest and fastest way to get them is to use your Real Life credit card or PayPal and just buy 10 USD worth of L$. 1 USD = L$265 so 10 USD will last for a long time!)

...what about actually LOOKING at the tutorial stuff, that'll tell you enough for a start. I did look. I looked at the knowledge base and tried looking up something in the Wiki but the only related things I could find were how to buy land. |

Don't do it, she will make you work in her prim mines. TOO LATE! I do have her. And am sending her on to NCI along with some pocket change. Anyone know of a better place she can get help in all the basics? Darn, i should have helped her with the Avatar Proportion kit first. Here we are 2 minutes ago! ![]() _____________________

I don't think showing a little crack is against the forum rules, is it?
After all, its not really crack, but a drawn line of pixels! _____________________

Hi, Shima! Welcome to Second Life, and to the Forums. You have fallen in with a Good Crowd.
Brianna, kudos for sending her to NCI. If it's the Caledon Oxbridge "campus", there's a great getting-started tutorial. Shima, the Second Life "world" doesn't correspond geographically to the Real World, although there are bits of it scattered here and there. So you might find a virtual Paris, or Venice, or New York City, or the Sydney Opera House. You'll also find places right out of history, or the movies, or fantasy stories. Or something that looks more like your local shopping mall (lots and lots of those!) Search is a good tool to find things and places. Or open the Map, find someplace that looks intriguing, and teleport there to see it in person. _____________________
It's still My World and My Imagination! So there.
