If you really wanna play a game which was designed for you to be evil, play Dungeon Keeper 1 or 2.

I'm sure the time will come when computer generated characters will be worthy of rights. But right now they're barely insects.
Having said that I wouldn't enjoy torturing insects and so I do find myself feeling a little uncomfortable when being mean to some of the smarter AI characters. They do have a goal after all.
Then there's the puzzle known as Pain.
Pain is seriously strange and when you don't understand something then it's probably best to caution on the safe side. Who's to say that the pain you feel is or isn't real?.
What the hell is pain and why the hell is it so bloody painful?. I dunno.. But I just know that I need to get away from it. There is nothing to say that it's just instinct or genetic programming. If so, then are we really any different from the AI characters in the video games that are also programmed to avoid collisions/pain at all costs?.
I dunno...

From: Crunch Underwood thanks for the great cheats! i'v always played that game way to nicely dam it. what happens when you go into debt? do you get locked up or anything? oh and how do you break a tv? um...that cheat? If you shift-click on an item you can 'force break' lol... Oh, just dont start messing with the debug stuffs -im not entirely sure what they do.... I have other cheats, but that one is best... and if you spawn the Tombstone of L and D, you can make everyone on the plot of land friends with you lol.

It's just a pity campbots, spambots, trafficbots and all the onetime logins can't starve to self deletion.

From: Rob Howlett I actually cried the first time I killed a sim, but after doing it a few dozen times it got boring. It was too easy to kill them. So instead I tried to make their lives as difficult as possible.
I would create a new sim and waste all of his money on landscaping. I would leave him with no money, no house and the lowest paying job. He owned nothing but a love seat, a bookcase and a telephone. He would eventually thrive but it took a lot of hard work.
Even more difficult than that was the unemployed single mom trying to support seven children. Interesting psychological point. You refer to your sims as "them"...in the third person. Most of us refer to our SL avatars in the first person, "me". It's a lot easier to kill something you don't identify with.

I can't do anything like that. A got a game from a friend once, it was called "Knights of the Republic", it was a Star Warsy game. In the game, you can be either a good guy or bad guy, but you don't choose at the beginning - you turn into one or the other depending on what you do and how you treat NPCs in the game. I always played a good guy; one day my friend told me that I was missing out on half the fun (because I guess the whole game can really turn out differently if you're a bad guy). So I restarted the game, and started off trying to be a bad guy. It worked for about an hour. After that I started feeling genuinely guilty about some of the things (pre-scripted, drop-down list things, mind you!) I was saying to the NPCs, so I turned good again. I just couldn't bring myself to be evil! I know, I'm pathetic!

No, you're not.
And you're not alone (thank god!) I get uncomfortable playing "evil" in RP and video games too. I can do it for a while, if I'm in just the right mischievous/contrary/grouchy state of mind, but I can't sustain it.
On the whole, I think I'm glad about that. To discover a capacity for really uninhibited evil within myself would be very disturbing.
Rather than see it as a shortcoming, take it as a sign that there's hope for us yet.
