One of my favourite moments in the entire history of TV sci fi is Captain Kirk's fight with a gorn (man size bipedal dinosaur with compound eyes) in the original star trek episode 'Arena'

I wanted a Gorn avvy but the one Ive seen in world didn't look as good as I'd hoped. Naturally this may have been the picture used on the vendor. Has anyone actually bought the Gorn avvy and do they have any pics of themself 'wearing' it please ?

I figure you'd be a Metron. You are pompous and arrogant enough for it.

Not "Gor" - "Gorn". Maelstrom did not error in the typing there.

Mael, we have to forgive the young, don't we? I remember that episode well. I also enjoyed the parody/reference in "Galaxy Quest".

No, sorry, I havent' tried the Avi ... didn't know it existed. I hadn't thought of that darn Gorn until I read your OP. I WILL go look now, though.

What are you Gor'n on about?

Was that episode before or after the Gorean war?

You know the one MacArthur didn't return to?

Conan, it isn't fair. You using your higher brain power and opposable thumbs to create a tool to defeat the Gorn with.

This post belongs in Products Wanted, not here. That said, check soon at Sci Fi Supplies (next to the sci fi museum in Indigo). Now that I've actually got some time on my hands, I'll be attending to my long dormant to-do list for both the museum itself, and its supporting product line. A Gorn av is definitely on the list.

I thought for sure someone had been seeking a Gorn avi before, but I did a search and couldnt find a thread on it. I'm surprised there aren't many, many more Star Trek Avs in SL.

i dont know if you know about this one place in world. He does a lot of Star Trek/ DS9/ stuff. i think i have the LM if you im me in world next time we are on at the same time. i think he also does custom work as well, so as long as you have a decent enough pic of what you need.

I think he has a legitimate complaint here. The usual defense is the silliness occurs after the question has been answered or when the question is absurd to begin with. Normally that is true, but wasn't the case here. Derailed immediately for no reason.

Now that's just bad form; referring to a previous thread where the OP was roundly beaten. For shame! A gentleman should be gracious in victory.

This was a legitimate (if highly specific) question.
Of course, if your intention was to bump the thread in order to help the OP get his answer, then good show, old chap!

Did the thread somehow become hostile to legitimate answers for the question?

I musta missed it.

I said derailed, I never said hostile. Very big difference. Still not helpful in trying to get an accurate answer in the beginning.

LOL. Of course you are.

Actually, from my perspective, it wasn't the one silly comment you made or the one or two maybe that followed. It's that it continued. If it was my thread at that point I would have felt frustrated at that point that it had simply fallen apart. My God, woman, don't you understand, the man still doesn't have his Gorn outfit!!!

I find it amusingly ironic that your talk of how this thread has been derailed is derailing it further to the extent that this is now a thread about how this thread became derailed.

I suppose it needs to be about something though - seeing as how the OP's question was answered on the first page.

Post #9 to be exact. Post #11, the OP threw out an appropriate barb which was volleyed back nicely, and at Post #15 a second helpful answer was put into play. Well done, everyone.
