I find the explanation of how to work group land confusing. Maybe someone can help me?
1. My partner and I own land and deeded it to group. We would like to have just him deed it all. Can you tell me how to go about this if we own several parcels ..eg...1024, 512, 2048, 4096. ( right now we both contribute.) Our goal is to have just him pay the tier for all our land.
2. Can just 1 group member deed the land? Thank you!

Have you checked the knowledge base?
In the groups section there is info on how group land works. It tells the basics plus gives examples. There are 4 pages in the group section in a FAQ type format. I couldn't get a link for you.

1 group member can deed all the land, but they need to have enough tier available to do so.

This is not necessarily the most cost effective solution. You may optimise cost by ...

Player 1 contributing up to the tier price limit immediately below the needed tier.
Player 2 contributing his free 512 + any remainder, if needed

... factoring in the 10% group tier bonus.

As this is, admittedly, somewhat confusing, just tell us how many m² your group will need (land size) and we'll walk you through the calculation.

Awesome Ricky yes thats what we wanted to do. I would contribute my 512. As of now we have these parcels: 896,1664,1536,768,1920,640 and 768. I believe that will put him in the 8192 bracket for his tier. Right now those parcels are divided between us in land contributions. If you could walk me through how to have him contribute the land ..less my 512..I would greatly appreciate it!

Let's make sure the facts are as I understand them here: the parcels listed sum to 8192 sq.m., and that's all the land involved. Your contribution of 512 is *tier*, not *land*, correct? (Or is there a total of 8192 + 512 = 8704?)

And the plan is for you to stay a premium member, so you can contribute that 512 "bonus" tier without having to pay for it, right? (Of course he, too will get his own 512 "bonus" tier to contribute.)

So, group-owned land gets a 10% tier "bonus"--that is, for X amount of contributed tier, 1.1 * X sq.m. can be owned by group. So the total amount of contributed tier that's needed to cover 8192 sq.m. is 7448. The two premium bonus 512s brings that down to 6424sq.m. of "purchased tier" that needs to be contributed.

If he covers that as a single tier payer, that would cost US$40 -- with a bit of tier left over (it's the full 8192 tier level). In this case there's no savings by dividing it differently. (There is actually enough tier left over that it would be possible for you to not contribute that 512 at all, if leaving Premium is otherwise an option.)

Anyway, those are the details. The underlying mechanism is pretty straightforward: Land is deeded to the group with the "Owner Makes Contribution With Deed" checkbox checked, and the land will then belong to the group with (just) enough tier taken from each account to cover it. Then, assuming he's not already at the 8192 tier level, he goes into My Account / Land Use Fees and adjusts his tier to the new level. Then he goes to Group Info / Land & L$s tab and contributes all he can to the group. This will leave a huge surplus. Then you go into that tab and reduce your tier contribution to just 512 (your Premium bonus), and then to your "My Account /Land Use Fees" page and reduce your tier for the next billing cycle. (That last step is actually not supposed to be necessary: the billing should reduce automatically. But no point in tempting fate.)

If the land is already deeded to the group, thus the group is the owner and you only want to change how much each person is contributing, follow this...

your partner needs to contribute the amount of tier that you are currently contributing minus the 512 basic, he may have to go to his account on the SL website and up his tier level first (sometimes it takes a couple minutes to reflect in world so he can do the contribution) (he should do this first, so that your group is not without contributed tier)

and then you remove all the tier you have contributed and leave only a 512 contribution, then go to your account on the SL website, the land use fees section and manually tier down after you remove it from the group, leaving you with the basic 512 tier.

Hope that helps

(if you are a little stuck on how to remove tier and add tier just send me a PM and I will come in world and assist with it step by step if you like)
