This is just lazy, surely. At least with most camping bots of yore they had fake names and fake profiles and fake groups.

In a club full of people camping, called dfjjd, dvdvsd etc etc.

Lazy lazy lazy little resource leechers!!!

Gah, I hate pro-farmers. This is the naming scheme that is normally associated with them, because they have a program that can't seem to generate unique names that aren't just random garbage tossed into a blender and crammed full of stupidity.

It shouldn't be too hard to generate contrived but plausible names or just work down a big list of names if they were concerned.

There wouldn't be any reason for a program to generate character sequences that look like they were typed, like the ones mentioned do.

I think it was a person typing in alt names, maybe a really lazy person with a few beers too many.

Same thing happened in warcraft. At first the Chinese gold farmer spammers, bothered with actual names then soon they were doing the kdbskhfsaaa thing. Although it got really bad for a while, like 1-5 spams a minute, Blizzard pretty much reduced it to near nothing. Now the farmers can only talk in local chat or try to form groups to spam people silly enough to say Ok to group request. So each name is reduced to just a few uses and then they get instant right click spammer reports on the name. So they are back to using real names in stealth mode.

What gives you the right to say that "kdjfhsdkfhskhfs" isn't a real name, coincidently I was going to name my unconceived child that :(

Since the you don't know the gender yet, "aaaaaaaaa" would probably be a better choice. ;)

All their life, when they introduce themselves to people, they'll get responses like "kdjfhsdkfhskhfs? aren't you that bot from Second Life?".

Well, what do you expect from people who are so lacking in imagination that they need to use bots for traffic because real people aren't interested in their wares?

Actually I would expect numbers.

A program in a loop just incrementing a number and converting it into a string to enter into the registration name field, possibly done using the Registration API, just registering accounts day in and day out, Maybe using an IP and hardware ID spoofer to keep it from looking bad.

That may not be possible or realistic but that's what I would expect.

CoH started having the issue, when they introduced the invention system. Every tell sent was a long name that to /ignore one had to type the name correctly. NCSoft got smart with that one, they created the /ignore_spammer. Now, we just have to deal with the in game email system spam... I found the /ignore_spammer works fine for it too.

Lineage 2 also had a massive issue with the Korean and Chinese pro-farmers, and since Lineage 2 was PvP no matter what if you left a town, a lot of bots got 'killed' back to level 1. Sadly, this meant that if you played a dwarf, you got PK'd a lot. I left because at the time the game was tilted in the favor of the PKers, because you could drop items worth millions of in game currency if you died, but the PKers had immunity before 5 kills. If you think this makes NO sense, join the club. Heard they changed the rules after an uproar.. *looks kinda innocent* but I'm a CoH girl now. (Even if the dark elf girls are umm... sexy.)

SuezanneC, I know that such a dictionary exists, because I still occasionally like to kill cute little creatures called Norns via letting them kill themselves off via their own stupidity. It has actual names... I have no idea why pro-farmers and extremely lazy souls can't use something like this for naming their poor neglected avatars.

Ouch!

But don't expect these type of names on just bots as some of these people use these type of names on themselves because they believe they're being cute which they're not.

Also, sentences used as names such as 'Iwasherelastnight ButnowI'mgone' or other stupid names and symbols. This isn't cute or funny nor does it show them to be very clever but they believe it is.

Go figure.
