When I was testing vendors - I deposted all but 100 of my cash in SLExchange before granting any debit permissions. I went in with the full expectation of getting scammed. None of them tied to scam, but I was trying to think ahead of the game.

Hmm, a lot of my posts lately seem to be me linking to my own JIRA issues, but they do seem to all be relevant, so here's another one:
http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3387

It's a JIRA issue regarding "Safe" debit permissions, essentially allowing a user to grant limited debit permissions to an object so that it can only do certain things. Strife Onizuka has made an excellent sub-task regarding scripted support as well, and I'm hoping that these can get some attention as they really do need it.
Basically the idea is, if you get a vendor then you only expect it to receive money, giving out the occasional refund. So what you do is tell SL that you only want this object to be able to give out money that it has received, only to the person who gave the money, and only if the money was received within the last say...24 hours. This way the worst an object can do is give away L$1 for every L$1 it receives. The absolute worst a vendor could therefore do is give away free items, which is a lot better than giving away $250 or more of actual money.

Please do vote for the issue if you agree with it, as it could be a vital step forward in protecting our money from scam-objects, as they're only going to get more common as SL continues to grow.
