Anything is possible with the Providers. If the did it they would probably do it, announce it a week later, saying it will take place in 2 weeks. I'm wondering if this is actually a reference to IDV, are they planning to roll it out on the first of the year?

Maybe if they could set it up so you require a credit card or something to verify Identity, some places on the web (even legit places) have you verify yourself by charging a dollar, then they cancel the transaction with the card is verified.
Granted , Yes, some people would use stolen or Hacked credit card accounts, but Identity theft is a pretty serious crime, so they would be takin a serious risk. You`re average griefer, I don`t think would want to take a chance at doin RL jail time, just to run around actin like a Jack@@@. Just a thought Might not even be feasible for all I knowAnd I do agree LL most likely won`t do anything, after All in RL, marketing is a number`s game when it come`s to media, like intenet services,SL included |

It's going to change. As LL continues to get more bad publicity about their worthless numbers and as more press goes out that companies are pulling out of SL, they will have no choice but to change. They will be made to be held accountable. Finally, if bad press or lost lost customers don't work, then getting REAL competition will. When that happens LL will be forced to do many things differently. Maybe the first thing is to redo the first office.Nobody wants to see Sl go down, but if we continue to have nothing but lies, underhanded business pratice. There well he problems in the future. I think the problem is some that only see good don`t see the big picture. |

hello there is a rumor coming sometimes, saying that linden would delete free accounts and keep only premium accounts in the near future as january 08.... is it a founded rumor ? is it real ? if yes, where to find infos about this ? I haven't heard that rumor until now. I really doubt it's true. I have a Basic account. Although I don't pay directly to LL, I do rent a cottage, and buy lots of stuff from many of the vendors. My landlord and the vendors pay LL for their sim, and I pay my landlord/vendors. LL makes money from them, and the vendors/landlord makes money from me. Linden would be crazy to drop the Basic accounts, as a result. Unless there's some other reason I haven't thought about. Avanti |

What is the advantage of being a premium member? I thought it was just for those who want to buy mainland. How much stipend do people get on Tuesdays?

Err. No. Not a good idea. Oh yeah, they have already driven that road. Found it to be unfeasable to the Tao of Linden as it actually worked as advertized for quite some time without breaking. Also, there is all of europe who oddly all have credit and live in industrialized nations with global economies but seemingly have no access to VISA and who would get suddenly butthurt if they were suddenly unable to log in. |

How much stipend depends on age. Currently, it's 300L per week, but older Residents get 400-500L. _____________________

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things. Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut. |

They don't delete the accounts, they simply stick the Avs at the bottom of a lake. Ahh, okay, this explains that gal who was apparently permanently stuck up to her waist in the seabed under Linden water off my north shore.. always wondered about her. |

It would be a terrible business move and they know it. Unfounded.

I'd love to see it happen. It probably never will. Either way, don't get all worked up about rumors. If you start believing them all there will be about 5 people left in SL by the end of the year. there are only 5 of us bradley ..you, me and three of the Lindens who play everybody else ![]() _____________________

Once they make age verification available, I could possibly see them eventually limiting or phasing out accounts that have absolutely no ID on file. Allowing unlimited free unverified and untracable alts is one of the reasons griefers and bots are so much of a problem. It isn't so much the free or Premium status of the account that is at issue, but the accountability of the individuals who own those accounts. So one could become Premium, OR one could at least age verify, so they have some sort of ID on file for each account that has been validated.
Personally, I prefer the idea of an "Avatar Wallet", that links one person's real ID and payment info to however many accounts they might have. It would not in any way be necessary for regular Residents to know anything about those linkages beyond "Verified ID on file". Only LL would need to know who a person's alts are, so banning one person could ban all their alts, and so disciplinary actions meted out against an alt would affect all that person's accounts. Many SL Players, such as myself, create content, earn money, and pump a lot of real dollars into the SL economy, even though we never have been and likely never will be Premium members. Many more are the consumers that may not pay for a Premium account, but who regularly purchase L$ with their credit cards or transfer funds in from PayPal, and who again feed the economy with an influx of their cash. If you don't want to own a piece of the mainland chaos, there is very little reason to pay LL a monthly subscription fee for the right to do so. In the long run though, the horse is already out of the barn, and has long ago died of old age. LL has, for whatever reasons, decided that unlimited availability of free and unverified accounts benefits their business. So it is very unlikely they will reverse that course. _____________________
Sorry, LL won't let me tell you where I sell my textures and where I offer my services as a sim builder. Ask me in-world.

Hmm, hope they give us fair warning so I don't lose any part of the 19,000L$ per month that I pay my various landlords.
But I agree with the others, especially if Payment Info Used shows in an account, I'd leave it well enough alone. OTOH, my wife's account doesn't have Payment Info on File, but we could fix that in a flash if needed. (I send her money, plus she hostesses at a club and earns her keep). |
