Oh for goodness sakes! How far are we going to take "politically correct?"
In our school system, the kids no longer get a Halloween party at school, and they aren't allowed to wear their costumes to school. I remember being a kid - I loved wearing my costume all day, and having a party at school. My child did not get that same experience. :(

They're not "kids;" they're developing people. And it's not a party. There are bad connotations with that word. Call it a morale event. (I am trying to be satirical, of course. There are some who would take those suggestions seriously.)

I received a few St. Patrick's Day tokens from the management at the office today. Some of the items had the three-leafed Shamrocks. There was a green coin with a four leaf clover on one side and the phrase "The Luck of the Irish" on the other. And the best part -- a pencil covered in what looks like five-leaf clovers or maybe they're mari -- er -- I mean hemp plants.

So to the OP, you see what you're up against.

i don't know where (in the world) St. Pats Day is celebrated, but in America it's not about the Irish anymore. it's now about green beer and the luck of 4-leaf clovers, pots of gold, rainbows and leprechauns.

Dont you remember? St Paddy has to wet the shamrock before the Irish wet their throats! :D

Send it down to me. I will not be taking part in the Cork parade.. marching up Patricks street like an eejit while getting drenched, instead I'll be curled up on the sofa playing with the puppy! :D

I too hope "Leprechaun Day" is a joke

Well Urah, did you get the rain I sent ya?? Well, it must've gone somewhere because Dublin was simply bathed in sunlight today.... though having said that I ended up not going anywhere...just like yourself....on the sofa...lol

The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

The thought of my parents in the act of concieving me would not make the day "special"

*shudders*

It does for me because it was the beginning of my "life" and I'm rather glad I'm here. :D

My parents had a very active sex life until my dad died at 68. I got over the "eww ikky" part a loooong time ago.

My last year of living at home when I was 16/17, my dad worked in another country and would be gone for a month and come back for a month. On the day he would come home, he would give me 20 bucks and the keys to his car and tell me to "go find a date, and don't come home early".

It was so dry i ended up going for a walk by a lake!
It must have stayed dry all day and all night - coz I heard a load of people rolling home about 6am this morning :D

You made the best choice - the sofa always always should win!

Happy St Patrick's Day everyone. :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day Sun. I'm sorry I'm a day late seeing this thread but I couldn't resist going in-world to give you a bunch of 3 leafed (leaved?) shamrocks I happened to have.
