Since I have been in SL, I have co-owned a beautiful plot on the old mainland sim of Carlisle. There was one 16m in the middle of the land that the owner refused to sell to me. He had one little ad on it for his casino and it disrupted the whole feel of the area.
Yesterday I found it had reverted to Gov. Linden. This morning Harmony set it to the co-owner and now Carlisle is whole again. Another small victory in the ad farm war.  I often complain about LL's customer service. But there are a few shining stars like Harmony who are trying their best despite the fact that the short-staffed team is overwhelmed. Thanks Harmony!!! _____________________

Patch Linden just helped me out by setting some abandoned former adland that was adjacent to mine for sale to me. I didn't surround it on all sides, but I got it anyway.
Yay to the Lindens that help us out! I just wish there were more of them. _____________________

Imagine just how bad it is that when one of them does something for someone here they're pointed out as something of a rarity. It should be the other way around where what's pointed out is when one of them doesn't do anything.

Sadly There are more of those Adfarms that are not being taken care of by the lindens.
Shakeshead wonders if they just deal with the ones they know and don`t take action about those tha people report. |

I put in a completely standard support ticket to LL on an ad plot issue. I'm not some big-shot FIC-cliquer or Linden schmooser. My name might be familiar to the regulars in this forum, but that's about the extent of my 'fame'. Harmony took the time to be in-world and IMed me to meet up with her. She did all that she could in the circumstances. She gave me quite a few minutes of her busy day. |

I have a couple of questions....if I file an AR report re an ad farm advertising Xrated crap on a PG sim, do I try to address it to a certain Linden? Also there is Governor Linden land that is full of objects, a real mess....do I address my concerns to a linden who is in charge of land?

It sems to be a good plan to get a number of people to AR the same thing at the same time. If the situation is not just advertising (which is allowed) but "advertising or content that is intended solely to drive an unreasonable price for the parcel it is on", then we are into what is loosely termed "Ad Farm" for the purposes of the new policy. Extract from the Knowledge Base section on Ad Farms: How to most effectively abuse report "Ad Farm" situations When filing the abuse report, please stand beside the offending content before choosing Report Abuse from the Help menu. Use the Harassment category and include the phrase "Ad Farm" in the summary line. If the owner is clear, enter their name. If it is a group-owned parcel or object, then either enter the owner or officer of the group if you can find it or enter "Governor Linden" (yes, we're asking you to abuse report the Gov, it's okay, she won't mind...) and put as much supporting detail in as you can. Our first action when we come across cases of "ad farming" will usually be to return the content and warn the person responsible. Repeated violation may bring further action, including suspension. If you are suspended and feel our decision was wrong, you can appeal. For a Gov Linden parcel full of junk, file a support ticket. |

I've filed two ARs for Ad Farm harassment and both parcels were cleared out within a day or two. So I couldn't be happier with LL's action in this aspect of SL.
The only ads that remain are on 16x16 parcels land that are not for sale. The group owners took them off the market on the day LL announced the new ad farm policy. _____________________
