Is there a place for people share their Windlight settings? Or would this be considered something like a shape that's either personal or something to be sold. I'm not entirely happy with the presets and would be interested in seeing what others have come up with. There was a thread where one Windlight setting was posted that tends to be more like the old viewer. I forget how it was done and now I can't seem to find the thread.

Here's mine. This is a sunset (or sunrise maybe) that has the ambient light turned up, the sun/moon light turned down and the sky is pink and purple. It's great for taking pictures and building. I think it's a little too bright for just wandering around and exploring.
You need to cut below the dotted line and paste it into a text file and rename it to 'appleblossom.xml' then toss it into the directory C:\Program Files\SecondLife\app_settings\windlight\skies

Hey Weston I have tons of windlight settings that I've created over the past months that I'd be happy to share. Also, Torley has posted a bunch of his as plug-ins that you can download to your desktop and add to your SL file. Once you get the hang of the sliders, you're probably going to have a blast creating your own settings. It can be addicting, especially if you're into any kind of photography.

From: Max Herzog A belated vote for Nostalgia. It's superb. Oh ya. I've used it sparingly, but for some very dramatic images. Mari

Sorry to bump this thread - just needed to say thanks. Appleblossom is the one I remembered. I lost it when I got a new computer - so evidently the windlight settings stay on your client side and are not like an inventory item. Thanks to all for the links. I'll try those out too.

It's witchcraft, I tell you.

I do wish we could manually enter numbers. My sliders steadfastly refuse to land on some of these numbers. I'm trying to set Max Altitude to 368 and it jumps from 349 to 376 with nothing in between. Oh well, I can edit the XML file by hand I suppose. If I'm going to name it Nostalgia it should be the identical settings.

I took a massive series of pics at the Carnival of Doom using that setting. Well pleased with the results.

You can get the numbers you desire by clicking the setting and tapping the arrows keys on the keyboard to move up or down the number line. I discovered this while trying to reset the gamma to 1.0. The closest I could get was 1.03 before using the arrows.

I'd like to ask people's permission to include the downloadable WL settings listed and linked in this thread in an installer that I've compiled here: http://www.secondskinlabs.com/Downloads/downloads3.html The installer makes it easy to install multiple 3rd party WL presets with just a few mouse clicks. I've been collecting WL presets from another thread over here too: /109/ee/273733/1.html

Might want to note too, since windlight does not exist as a standalone anymore, but instead is integrated into the Release Candidate viewer, the proper place to extract the xml files for now are:
C:\Program Files\SecondLifeReleaseCandidate\app_settings\windlight\skies
