On my exploring of SL i have seen many male AV's. Some of them have become good friends. I accepted the broad muscular shoulders and small waist, but i have found that some men are now using animation over-riders so their AV looks less robotic. But to be honest a lot of the poses make their AV look very effeminate, when a friend of mine put these on his AV, i wish i had one for rolling on the floor laughing. Just wondered what your views were on them.

Male avs using AOs is not a new thing...the current defaults suck hard, after all. But, like everything in SL, some animations are better than others.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Men can be such guys. I have to approve, might be just me though.

Were these broad shouldered guys wearing chaps I wonder ? I would have to see.

Hm, are you wearing chaps ? Is there a place for this to be examined at length ? Probably, and if not there should be.

Just try to find a male walk that doesn't simple radiate testosterone and menace.

There are a few animators (thank you, Pulaski Fizz) who've given us some wimpy/geeky/shy stands. But I haven't found much choice for walks, at all. I'm currently using a fairly effeminate walk that kinda fits my wimpy AV, but it's definitely not for the broad-shouldered set.

There's no shortage of gangsta, tycoon, and all-around buffoon anims for men. Rather, it's the not quite so ludicrously masculine anims that are hard to find.

I'm perfectly happy to use the so-called effeminate poses. Mainly because I don't wish to stand and walk like a gorilla.

Well they do claim many female avs are really men in RL - perhaps these buff but effeminate avs the OP sees are actually women. ;)

Luth Brodie, at Reel Expression, has recently put new 'casual' AO's out for both male and female avs that are worth taking a look at. Her poses and anims usually look realistic I think. Not so overexaggerated as many you see.

From memory they were sets of walks, stands and sits only and the womens' version seemed good from the brief tryout I had time for the other day. Guys might want to take a look at the male one - I didn't try that. :)

My partner is definitely a man and walks like a duck.
Also he actually creates a mess in our houses in sl. I am beginning to admire the male ablity to actually BE male. I don't think I could imitate it.

A lot of male skins have shading that create a very muscular chest and torso. You can't wear a skinny or fat av using these skins as they would look ridiculous. It's kind of like how some female skins are shaded to give you balloon sized breasts and an athletic body. If some skin-maker is looking for a niche to fill it would be to create high quality skins for the non barbie and ken shapes.

Sorry I went off on a tangent there. I haven't seen much in male animations but the walks need some improvement. In all the walks I've seen the shoulders move way too much.

How nice it would be indeed to have quality, non-conan-the-barbarian, average joe skin.

Yeah. And another problem is that I think avatars walk too fast to begin with, so it's difficult to come up with a realistic walk animation that doesn't exaggerate a bit to compensate for that.

Putting in another recommendation for Reel Expression. I purchased a couple of model poses there that were very nicely done. I'll have to check out the casual line mentioned above.

My partner has a very nice male walk that isn't effeminate or the gorilla walk. Now I'm curious where he got it.

You may be happy with your AV and these poses..But I like the men I meet to stand, pose and walk as close as they can to being a man, not stand in front of me preening themselves like they are gods gift, and walking around as if they have something stuck between their bum cheeks....

Then I'll make sure I steer well clear of you, just so you're not offended by my preening and tight-buttedness. In fact, given your snippish response there, I'm glad of the warning to steer well clear of you. If it upsets you that much then I wouldn't want to cause you distress by accidentally mincing and preening into your vicinity.

Have a good one :)

Animation Merchant makes a set of anis for males called "confidence". Has some good poses and a good walk that is masculine but not aggressive looking. I'm not a fan of the whole set but the stands and walk are pretty good.

lol, but it's not a true fix! They are plenty of craptacular animations for women too! I mean, after 2 years, I STILL haven't found a walk I like...a couple I can stand, yes, but nothing I really like.

Second that. I put my own sits and flying anims in it, but the "confidence" walk and stands are decent in my opinion.

Update from earlier post:

Asked my partner what walk he uses. He said he got it in some free AO package and really liked it (I do too) but thinks it is from M&P.

I bought mine long time ago at Vista Animations, it has several poses and walks, and I found it very natural and masculine :) only the price wasn't so good at that earlier times (899L$ lolol)

I never felt there was a shortage of good male animations - but then, I never checked out what was available for females either.. :p . The anims I use come from various places and whether people want to classify them as effeminate or whatever is not interesting as long as they feel right to me. :) I have cheap poses, expensive poses and freebies in my ao, and sometimes wander stores to see if there is something I'd like to add.

As for the broad shoulders-narrow waist shapes, I see so many "clones" who appear to have.. paid for these? They often have tiny hands too. Are sliders that difficult to work? Or are these bought shapes no mod?
