I am an avid camper. How do others know when I have 'preselected' a camping spot?
What setting must I use to 'see' what they are 'seeing'?
Also, is there any way to disable this feature so others do not see that I have 'preselected' a camping spot?
kimbo ...camping is addiction.....

Really have no idea what you are asking here.
First, how do you preselect a camping spot?
Second there is no way that I know of for you to see what anyone else sees or for them to see what you are seeing.
If someone is grabbing a camping spot before you can get to it then it is probably a bot programmed to find anything it can sit on and it can do that much faster than you can.

Do you mean seeing what spot someone is looking at or touching? Go to Advanced in the top menu bar, to Character, then check off Look At and Point At.

That was going to be my guess too, but I'm not really sure what the OP is asking either.

Somehow, 'avid' and 'camper' don't go together. I mean, I have a hard time imagining someone staring raptly at the screen as their av does nothing but sit/dance/clean/whatever.

They do stuff, but have alts/bots on campers, or leave their av with an anti-idler on a camper while they sleep. It's free money. If it were RL and there were chairs that paid you for sitting in em, you'd see people sleeping in them too.

LOL ok I get it....
But are we talking lots of free money or just a handful of lindens? What is an average hourly rate for sitting in a chair I wonder?

If it were RL and there were chairs that paid you for sitting in em, you'd see people sleeping in them too. True and some people would leave they're kids sitting in them too. The difference is in SL you can make photocopied cardboard cut outs of people and sit them in the chairs for money I always found it pretty boring, it's like playing COH where people do "filling" to powerlevel. They spend an hour standing at the door of a mission while a massively overpowered hero clears the mission by himself giving them all an equal share of the loot for doing nothing. Dumb thing is they powerlevel to 50 where the game runs out of missions and fun stuff to do anyway, only thing they can do is fight other level 50 players. WoW has actually started selling Level 50 characters straight off at a lower price than the farmers to put them out of business. As an actual player it's pretty bad an experience to be hunting in the wild and then have a dozen bots charge through laying waste to every animal and raw material in the area so you have to wait for 15min for them to respawn, then the bot mob does it's second pass..........

When I first started, camping payed (a *lot*) better than it does today, and I had no L$s and some sick idea that buying L$s was admitting defeat, so I'd camp while scripting. Some places even allowed building, so I could test stuff, sometimes to the, uh, "inconvenience" of my fellow campers. And presumably to the detriment of script lag, to which I was at the time quite oblivious.
It amuses me now to see camp pads full of fancy-dress avatars: tuxes, ball-gowns, up-dos, etc.,--when I've gone to great effort and expense to acquire the wardrobe of somebody who looks like he *needs* to camp.
(I'd try to post something germane to the original topic, but I, too, have no idea what the OP is on about.)

From: Keira Wells If it were RL and there were chairs that paid you for sitting in em... ...with a laptop running SL in their laps? For future searchers who find this thread, since the last time it came up was 2006, when you show Look At... From: Jessica Elytis Pink crosshairs are locked onto a place/avatar, blue corsshairs are a person moving thier mouse, green is the "semi-lock" of where an avatars eyes are pointing, and grey is the default "stare straight ahead" look. If a person is AFK, or set to BUSY then they have no crosshairs. Also note that multiple crosshairs overlap each other so you can't tell if one person, or 40 is locked onto an object/avatar with thier camera view.

I still don't get what this does. Last time I tried (in a place with about 40 people) everyone had Xs on them, a few were of different colours. Does this mean everyone there had looked at me (?!!!), or that _I_ had looked at everyone (which I hadn't). And what's the difference between Look At, and Point At? Bah, I haven't used it since, makes no sense. ETA: Crystal just answered above

"WoW has actually started selling Level 50 characters straight off at a lower price than the farmers to put them out of business."
This is not true. Onus is on you to document this false claim. Blizzard actively pursues accounts involved in this kind of activity. They just banned thousands of accounts merely for "win-trading," for instance.
Perhaps you got confused by the recent ability to use a level 70 in Blizzard's current tournament. That 70 can only be used in the tournament and on specialized servers. When the tournament is over, so is that character.
