Can I AR this person?

I have just bought my first land, a 512m parcel on mainland. But before I bought it, I did not notice my neighbour's Linden tree overhang cover half of my parcel.

The owner profile has nothing on it, no picture, no picks, just a single group. I suspect this is an alt acc. Though I IM the owner, I don't think I will get any response.

Is this an offense that I can AR the owner?

I'm thinking of covering his/her parcel with a 10x10 board with the message "Please move your trees away from my parcel and IM me once you have done that. I will remove this board"

That way, the owner or his/her friends won't miss it in case they drop by

If enough of the object is not over your land for you to be able to "return" it, then you can submit an AR. Do not follow thru on your 10x10 object as that will set you up for an AR.

The trees are at the edge of his/her parcel. So, yes, half of the tree is over my parcel

Drop a notecard on the owner in addition to the IM, give them a reasonable period of time to respond, then AR the tree. Also, remember that it is a holiday weekend for a lot of us, so he or she could be busy with family and may not be able to get back to you right away. Do NOT infringe on their parcel unless you want to chance being AR'd yourself.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I feel your pain it is annoying when you don't have big lot to have half of someone's trees or door way or huge mega prim wall over-shadowing or fenced around your lot.
Send them a notecard asking them politely to move the tree.
If they don't respond it might be because they might might not get or are away.
Usually though unless its mega prim taking over half prim LL usually sort of ignores request to move trees or part of someone's house in past if they are too busy.

Depends how it's scaled. An ex-neighbour of ours rezzed the largest LL tree right on the border of our parcel, sized it up, and it poked 9m onto our land and 6m into our house. So yes, half a tree can really spoil a 512m plot of land.

ok, I have send him a notecard.

But for now, my only choice is to think of a way to incoporate those trees into my landscape. Its not easy as I only has half of the land to place my building.

Now I can understand why ppl want to live in the sky

I don't know how it works these days but I had a similar problem a couple years ago and live help came to investigate.........I guess they contacted the owner and the tree was gone a day or two later. Actually that nieghbor became a pretty good friend of mine.........still on my friends list. :)

Move your house to the sky. You can rezz a large platform the size of your plot and put your house on that and landscape the rest.

They are obviously not the one who paid the purchase price, nor the one who is going to be paying the premium cost to cover the tier each month. Why should they incur special privlege?

Renee,

If you are even still reading this thread....

Don't let the idiots scare you away from your own post hun... you had every right to want that tree gone and every right to ask such a question in this forum.

Those who replied in such a way either have never tried to build on a 512sqm block of land, have forgotten what it's actually like or just love to make people feel like crap for no good reason but their own amusement.

You actually can have a comfy small home with some nice landscaping within that 117 limit.

You are well within your rights to have the tree moved and AR it. The sad thing is that it might take months for that to happen even if you put in a ticket. I would AR the tree anyway, and build up in the sky while you wait.

If you AR them then you might start are neighbour dispute which could see an even less attractive series of red ban lines next to your land. If you can keep it friendly then you might be able to avoid that.

This reminds me of an RL story where there where 3 houses in a row, all with parking spaces and a sort of drive that each owned the bit infront of their house. The guy at the end fell out with his next door neighbour, so his neighbour put a barrier across his land - legally preventing the guy at the end of the row from parking his car on his drive and causing him to duck under the barrier when walking to his house.

Totally within the law, but dont you just want to punch his face in for being another type of "AR", the one that ends in retentive.

The best solution would be to hire an escort girl to sleep with your neighbour and surruptisciously suggest moving the tree after she's got him into a more placid mood!

Failing that, after extensive testing, I can sadly report that guns dont work so well as a solution in SL - but you could try nagging, sickening over the top politeness, or doing as you are done too. All of which can yield results :P

I like the idea of trying to set the surrounding landscape around the tree. Then maybe drop him a notecard saying you are trying to do this but would appreciate it if he wouldn't mind moving the tree back a bit since you only have the 512 to play with.

Indeed a likely outcome. Most of the time, I have had success contacting the owner in such situations. Usually it ends up in a friendship, a good thing to have with neighbors. Usually if they are rezzing trees instead of junk, they are ok folks.
