Hi all, a problem that I have been having for months now are the ugly black spots on my av. The av has black feet, hands and parts of the body. I have tried just about anything that you can try to stop this : reloaded skin, replaced skins, shapes, outfits, name it. And sometimes when I reload or take another skin the black spots dissapear. Most of the time they don't. Even when I take another skin they are still visible. And when I get lucky and the black spots are gone, when i log back on the next time... there those ugly things are again. I have paid for many skins, outfits and more, because freebies usually don't look as good and realistic. It's sad that I have this problem, so I guess I am griefed or hacked but would like to know if someone had similar problems or would be able to know any tricks so i can finally can get rid of those black spots after all this time.

This almost sounds like the nVidea graphic card bug. If this is the case, I solved mine by downloading the older drivers -- version 1.75 I believe. There's another temporary way to solve it using a menu option about turning off palletted textures (?) but I think you have to do it each time you log on. Someone help me out here . . .

Thanks for trying to help, I tried to change all those preferences but that didn't work. Also since others see me the same way it can't be the videocard or it would just be me seeying those black bodyparts.

You might try providing system specs.
Make and model of computer, if there is one, such as HP 4100c, often on the outside of the case, or the back of the case, or the model of motherboard, if there isn't really a brand and model Operating system name, like Win XP , 32 bit, SP3 Amount of Ram Video processor, such as nVidia 8800GT amount of video ram Version of video driver, such as Catalyst 7.11 or nVidia 175.1 Versions numbers of SL viewer you've tried, the numeric version designator, such as Release 1.21.1.6, or what have you (not just "the latest version" You say you've tried old drivers. What versions of old drivers did you try? _____________________

Also since others see me the same way it can't be the videocard or it would just be me seeying those black bodyparts. Your avatar textures are baked on your computer and reuploaded to the server so, yes, it is your video drivers and, yes, others will see you the same way you do. |

It is not always black spots on fingers but the whole lower half including feet, It becomes one solid color. Most annoying It is making it worthless to sign on and try to do what I have been doing up until recently.. Update now eyelashes are white.. I have to rebake after cam movement again and again Second Life 1.21.6 (99587) Oct 14 2008 17:42:25 (Second Life Release) CPU: Intel Core 2 Series Processor (2333 MHz) Memory: 2045 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows Vista (Build 6000) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce 9500 GT/PCI/SSE2 ---Driver Version 7.15.11.7824 OpenGL Version: 2.1.2 |

You are seeing the problem described in this JIRA...
http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7957 Got to Advanced > Rendering > Features and turn off Paletized Textures. Then rebake your avatar. You will have to turn off Palletized Textures every time you log in as it is not remembered between sessions. |

Or roll your drivers back to the 175 (or earlier) series.

Or roll your drivers back to the 175 (or earlier) series. Unfortunately, I just checked the nVidia site and the 9500 is not supported on the 175 or earlier drivers. So, rolling back is not going to work. Earliest level they could go back to is the 177 drivers and that is where this problem started. |

I have downloaded the normal sl version again and for the moment i am not seeying those black spots. I deleted the release candidate viewer wich gave those black spots. So I know now that's it's not the videocard, let's just hope it was that release candidate

Yes now it seems with the regular version I don't have this problem anymore. I had to use the RC in the past because the regular version didn't start. But now it does and the problemm seems to be fixed.
