Alt follow possible?

Is it possible to script an alt to follow you? I'd like to be able to have my dragon alt follow my elf self without have to flip between windows to move it myself. Since you can control another avatar given permission, I'm thinking there's a way to do this with a follow script.

Is there? Thanks very much. :)

If the dragon wears an attachment or hud prim with a follow script in it and your s/elf ( *grin* ) as the target. then it won't get lost much.
Beware of sim crossings, where it might stop to admire the view.
Beware of wandering near the edge of any cliffs/drops,or the poor thing will turn into a yoyo.

Be aware that it might follow you by walking sideways or backwards. A prim can not turn an avatar unless the avatar is sitting on it.

One of the many free collars available would do the trick - as long as it allows the leash/chain to be made invisible. Then again, depending on the relationship to the dragon....

I think there is some type of HUD or Mysti Tool attachment, too, that will allow you both to tp together.

Look around for a Follower script. Put it in some object that the Dragon wears.

It will not Teleport. It can get blocked by walls and doors, etc. It is an open problem to make a really smart Follower taht avoids obstacles.

Some Follower scripts hop, or slither, or crawl.

The dragon will not rotate in anyway that makes sense.

A different type of Follwer is an object that the Dragon sits on, as opposed to wears. These have different properties.

The MetaBolt client has this built in (or it used to anyway).

Thanks. I like the collar or HUD idea. I'll look into it. :)

My puppy, Linden follows me around so it can be done as mentioned in the previous posts. Don't tp, it will not follow you. :(

Really? I should dig deeper into my Mysti's functions..

I have on occasion found it practical to just slap on a collar and let my partner drag me around malls when out shopping... since I don't always pay all that close attention to stuff.. >_>

That's not an avatar, though. I thought she was talking about a 2nd account.

Yes I was. :)

Will this do the trick?

Pandora Designs has an inexpensive "tail" hud that sounds like it would do what you want

Also if you have the dragon use a viewer that has RLV enabled, you can "force teleport" the dragon. (it is like offering a teleport, but instead of getting offer, the person, dragon in this situation, would immediately teleport).

By RLV, she means "Restrained Life Viewer" -- google it for more info. If you'll be teleporting around with your dragon, that's probably what you'll want to use.

And if so, you may want to run the same viewer for yourself, simply because it should use quite a bit less memory on your computer to run two copies of the same program.

Too bad this forum doesn't allow us to search 3-letter words.

The most the Mysti attachment (or any script, with the standard viewer) can do is pop something on the dragon's screen, and you'd have to click for the dragon to actually TP. With the RLV, no action is required in the dragon's window.

And of course four-letter words are *completely* out of the question . . .

Sounds fun; is it out there as a freebie, still?

Metabolt lets you make an alt follow you, it's a slim viewer and uses stuff all energy on the puter... Sometimes I have my alt, which ia a dog follow me round the sandbox, it looks bloody funny :)

it's not my fault OP didn't ask "HOW" =)

but since everyone chimed in, I throw out that you can use a vehicle script with very similar code to a follower (or even a simple physics sled) AND get facing corrections ;)

Very cute. It would be nice if you could point out an actual product as the others have done.

Tried a few things that didn't work, including the RVL viewer. (May be an older version conflict problem.) I payed for a few scripts that didn't perform as advertised. Full myst-tool is great but the av follow involves the av sitting in a chair which can't at the moment be made invisible. The search goes on. :)

Thank you.

Just an idle thought: it would be kind of nice if a main + alts were associated and the viewer had a forced teleport option for associated avatars - as a ghosting fix.

Upgraded to full mysti, well worth it! The Av follow feature works fine except my dragon needs to sit in a little chair. Now does anyone know if there's a way to make the chair invisible. If so, please tell me how. Thank you.

I solved the problem using a Gor collar setup. Still can't tp together though.
