The other day I was getting a purple dot in my mini map? But couldn't see what it corresponded to... am I missing something?

A bright purple dot is an object owned by a group you're a member of.

While on the subject of minimaps...

What's the significance of upright and upside down T's? Are they simply AVs on a higher or lower level than you are? And why are some of the avatar symbols sometimes red instead of green?

And another one:
Is there a way to take a LM from a Search result or a Map coordinate entry, so you can then pass the LM to someone else? Other than actually TP'ing there and grabbing a LM, I mean?

Hey I know this question has been answered a million times, but how do I clear out all those landmarks in the map? Are they the same landmarks that are in my inventory? If I just delete the LM's in my inventory, will they go away from the map collection? If not, wouldn't that be a cool feature?

Just delete the landmarks from your inventory, then they will dissapear from the list in the map. They are the same ones.

Don't forget to delete them from the trash too.

Upside down T is lower, right side up is higher. Red dot is scene of the crime. After the thread on language and usage of slang in the forums, the phrase "teh debbil" made me literally laugh out loud. Well done.

Trout just shook my memory loose on this one. I can't go in-world to verify, so I could be completely wrong.

I think the red T is the location of the beacon you get by clicking on the map. For example, if I use a landmark, or select a location to TP to using the map, BUT the TP goes to a landing point and not directly to the desired location, the desired location will be indicated with a red beacon.

In the world window this beacon looks like a tall cloudy red column, possibly with a red arrow indicating which direction you should fly and the distance to get there. On the mini-map the location is marked with the red T/dot, using the same altitude indicator that the green av T's use (dot=same altitude, T=it is above you, upside-down T=it is below you).

I'm pretty sure that's right, but I could just be making it all up. Someone can easily verify by opening their map, clicking a place nearby (to get the red circle on the map), then closing the map and comparing the location of the beacon with the red T on the mini-map.

Yep. IIRC, it also goes to an upside-down T if it's below your current height.

I would have sworn that's right but when I click on the map, I get a red circle in the minimap...

You get a red mark for where you meant to teleport to.

The mark is a dot, T, or inverted T the same as the green marks for other avatars:
- circle = same altitude
- T = above you
- inverted T = below you

From memory, the red circle in the mini map, doesn't include the Z coordinate (i.e. height), whereas if you click the big map, you get a red circle which when you tp to that point, you may have to fly/walk to that red beacon showing in that sim, but is now relevant to height, as you may have clicked on a building. The Red T that now shows on the mini map, indicates the Z coordination relevant to your location.

Big thank yous and hugs to everyone. This stuff sure isn't in the Users Manual.

Come to think of it, I never did get a Users Manual...

I had some trouble teleporting from one place to another yesterday and then I just ended up TPing home. I had used the map to find the other place I wanted so when I got home there was still that red arc and the annoying arrow indicating where I had tried to go. How do I get rid of that? (I ended up restarting)

"Clear" button on the map clears the red mark.

I'm pretty sure you also get a red T if you map a person; in that case the beacon you see in world will be hovering over them.

That's interesting... I wonder if it follows them when they move around. (I'm so antisocial in-world, I've never even tried looking for a friend on the map!)

Yes it does :) My partner was teasing me by "hiding" one day and couldn't understand how I found him so quickly! lol .. I haven't told him yet!

AFAIK it only works with people who have given you "mapping rights".
