From: Swiftly Streeter I had to call my credit card company and specifically tell security to add Second Life to the "allowed" list. They kept suspending my card every time I bought Lindens. That's interesting.

From: Har Fairweather OK, we've got the Democrats. Now we need some of the successful business people in SL to get out there and grab the Republicans. Desmond Shang, take one for the team and go out there and git 'em! grins Believe it or not I'm still a registered Republican, dating back to a more idealistic age. Somewhere along the way I decided both 'money parties' were similar enough (imagine The Who's "Revolution" playing in background as I type this) ... thus I never bothered to change party affiliation. Though no, I've never voted for George II. It's concievable I could become a dyed-in-the-wool econo-Republican again. I'm in a modest home with a modest mortgage, and if my hard-paid tax dollars bail out the ridiculously unsustainable mortgages of people living up the hill from me... well, yeah that would be enough to turn me to the dark side. Except for the fact that it's the Republicans doing the bailout so far (hey, are you guys really Republicans?) and the nonsense was done on their watch. And if I've got to spend my tax dollars on a foreign occupation I think I'd rather we occupy French Polynesia than Iraq. Mmm, pineapples... * * * * * To be honest, I'm finding the grid rather friendly toward business, from an old school theoretical US "econonomic Republican" standpoint. No pussyfooting around, here. As tough as the grid might be, that toughness is pretty much even-handed. It would be hard to find a more blatant example of few-holds-barred capitalism than business on the grid. There's probably less pork projects and feting here than anywhere in the real world.
