Wow...I had no idea how many RP sims were really out there in SecondLife...
...it's also amazing to me that no one has yet mentioned either: Karamoon (midieval) or Midian City (cyberpunk) _____________________

*Cough* *cough* Yeah, Toxia and a couple other similar "cyberpunk" RP sims are kinda misleading...more of a "sexual deviants and vampires" thing than any sort of actual sci-fi/cyberpunk setup with any substance to it...at least from what I had seen. More like Gor with guns, cars and little structure IMO. _____________________

DarkLife and DarkLife 2
05-08-2007 14:50
There is also DarkLife which involves fighting monsters, gaining Exp to level and stats for placement to enhance your character. Paths include Warrior and Mage. Currency is gold (obtained from monsters upon death). Gold is used to buy equipment and potions.
Currently, DarkLife is closed to newcomers (due to exploits and hacking); however, in the very near future, DarkLife 2 will make it's entrance. DarkLife 2 will have added elements, such as materials, again left upon monster's demise. These materials can be used to enhance various stats on equipment. Also in DarkLife 2, unlike in the current DarkLife, equipment will degrade over time and require repair. Guilds are also being proposed for additions in DarkLife 2. DarkLife 2 will first open in a 1/4 sim area (in Istaria Prime). Once unveiled, the Navora sim (home of the current DarkLife) will be closed and be updated to DarkLife 2. DarkLife equipment consists of weapons (swords, knives, axes, wands, staffs), armor & robes, helmets & hats, shields, jewelry. This equipment interacts with the DarkLife backpack and DarkLife monsters. The scripts from all of the equipment (excluding the backpack) may be removed and placed in your own custom equipment, if you so chose. Rumor has it that DarkLife 2 may be unveiled by the end of the month. If the above sounds interesting, send me an IM in-game, and I'll keep you posted as I hear of further DarkLife 2 developements. |

EverWind - brand new tolkein inspired world - This sim I looked at in this weeks ( the one As Kaiter said, we're still putting this roleplay area under development. My partner and I own Everwind. We're basically in the "beta testing" period where we are creating our own meters and combat system. The class skills and meter will be free. The building is almost done but the combat system will be a week or so before we're done with that. |

More like Gor with guns, cars and little structure IMO. Toxian did seem to lean towards sex and killing each other for the sake of it when I visited. The world seemed to provide only justification for the people I saw rather than inspiration. Of course, that could have just been a bad time for me to visit. _____________________

The monsters of DarkLife are Non-Player Characters (NPCs) and spawn (regenerate) over time (random over a few minutes span) after being killed.
In DarkLife there are no Player vs Player battles; although, if and when guilds are introduced in DarkLife 2, that may change (eg. guild wars of some kind possibly). |

Darkrose Island
05-09-2007 13:40
I shall jump in here and say that we, too, offer an alternative to Gor, or guns, or Gor with guns, or some combination thereof.
The choice of genre was rather thrust upon me a year ago, as I have a natural bent towards science fiction, but in spite of my original trepidations we have flourished for more than a year now. Darkrose is... hmm.. best described as dark conspiracy. While the origins were gothic, and the castle and village are traditional (17th century) the time of our roleplay is ostensibly the present. Vampires, lycans, the diabolic, thaumaturgy, we have a rather eclectic selection of denizens. Pardon, I am stumping for the Island, self-aggrandizing, if you will. The point being, there are many varied and interesting RPG environments if you search for them. Ours is a freeform environment which features a rich, deep storyline, characters with well developed backgrounds and personalities, plotlines which run the gamut of sensual to completely innocent rp, an overarching story with planned chapters, mature, committed players, administration highly involved in the satisfaction of the group, and a sim devoted to the experience. We also feature a unique freeform resolution technique, which permits experience and individualized characterization. We are not for everyone. In fact, I have already posted elsewhere that we are discriminating in our selection process. Perhaps you will not find Darkrose to your taste. Perhaps you will meet new lifelong friends, and help to create an incredible story. To each his own, I say. For myself, I am the Prince of Darkrose, leader of the group, senior administrator, and one of the most passionate roleplayers in the group. I disagree with some observations to avoid administrators who also play; I have, often, intentionally crippled my own story to facilitate those of the group. I invite you to come visit Darkrose... As a caveat - Caledon is an incredible place, the wastelands offer a unique vista and roleplaying experience, Midian is very interesting in its approach and execution (love the build), the many places in Gor are beautiful beyond description and the people devoted to the game they play. Seek out the variety of roleplaying experiences that individuals of all walks of life have invested their love and time into creating. |

Samurai Island for medieval japan, and Avalon Isle for medieval europe.
Gor is also much underrated and misunderstood too - it's not all about slavery; it's a ficticious fantasy type world - very Hyborean and plenty of fun too. |

I've spoken to some Gorean people, who were very understanding of my ignorance on the subject. They have some excellent builds and a very rich world but I think I would find it a touch restrictive (hehe the girl I spoke to said that based on my attitude and attire it "might not be for me"

There are over 50 different Gorean Homes, of many different flavors. You should IM me, and let me steer you towards a Gorean Home that is a better fit for you.

Try Tombstone arizona. It's a relatively strict roleplay sim.

A few I've been to...
Halo Community College - Wanna come to college, only to skip classes and have crazy sexual adventures with a great group of wacky beautiful people instead? Look for me there. Dark City - werewolves, vampires, neko's, etc... A really beautifully designed sim too. Midian - Dark urban / cyberpunkish sex fantasy place. Gang warfare a plenty. Another really nice looking sim. Toxian City - Same as Midian and Dark City basically. Caledon - late 19th century America. amazing sim, and really good rp. Samurai Island - Katana fighting + clans = kinda role playish |

Thanky If I understand correctly, there are two places. Bonds of Beauty and Beauty. Both based on that Ann Rice series. There was a split, I believe, that lead one group to the other, or something like that. I do not actually recall how to get to either, though I'd try "Beauty" and "Bonds of Beauty". Might work. Doesn't always. Might not be in search or changed name or . . . _____________________
