Thnx Lindal thats a lot of info (I copied it and will study it further), and thnx to all the others who posted too with great advice, words of exp, and ideas.I will try to incorporate your info into my Hotel Project.

The main thing is that I need to pull it all together into a workable SL place, and Ill post here again when and if I do it.

A while bacK I had built a city which had a motel, and I just for the fun of it, (and RP aspect) had the rooms rentable at 1L per night, and they actually did rent LOL

I have tossed around the idea of recreating the hotel again on my land, but never did try (I would have to make it smaller of course to fit the land I have)

All I can say is, do not go into it with the hopes of making money from it, go into it with the idea of having fun and you will not be disappointed :)

Rhaorth I'll add you and you can come and take a look at my Hotel.

Ive had a few people at the Sandbox look at it, and they all like it.

Some have also been giving me advice on flooring and furniture, and Im making progress.

It is really huge, which is a good thing? I think so....

Still need to find a good bed as the centerpiece of the room, havent found one that is copyable ( I'll have 20 rooms)

Sounds really nice, Steve. I'd like to see it too! It's great to see a relatively new person get all excited about building, and go to it. That's what SL is all about. Like Rhaorth said, do it for fun and not so much for money, and you won't get frustrated and disappointed.

Keep in mind some of the good advice in this thread about the prims. Multiply the prims allowed for the tenants times 20, plus the prims in the building.

The prims and land concept can be very deceiving. I've had people ask me if they could buy a copy of my Masocado hotel. It looks like an ideal business to have 10 high-paying tenants all on a 1024 plot. But you have to own 40% of a sim to use it, and that surprises a lot of people.

I don't think it's really deceiving. It is pretty simple - you get x prims with a certain amount of land, and you need to buy more land to get more prims. Theoretically one could buy the Masocado and then fill it with almost nothing, or have a skimpy prim limit. Spartan living is good :)

I wish I could teach that principle to my primmy tenants: The only thing Spartan about most of my people are their skimpy outfits. ;-)

My hotel is relatively huge, one room alone is about the size of the tiny houses they rent in come cities.

I intend to buy quite a bit of land to put it on, and also would like a swimming pool and some shops in the lobbies (its 5 stories high)

I need to finish up some of the basic design first, namely the stairs to get up (its tricky!) and the doors which have a "Hippo rent" feature which I have no exp in setting up, but Ill use em so ppl can avoid having to personally contact me to get a room/condo
