Hi, Do pets and animals you put in and around your home use up prims? Thanks, Meggy Yes, they do. Some of them can be *quite* primmy, so you need to be careful. Some pets are also physical; that is, they use some of the sim's physics resources. Also, if you are renting land, have "purchased" estate land - basically, if you do not own a whole sim and you are not living on mainland - then read your land covenant carefully. Some places either prohibit physical pets outright or place severe restrictions on them. A lot of estate owners started placing these restrictions in their covenants in recent months to protect their sims from the sionChicken effect. _____________________

You could always opt for an avatar attachable pet (Wynx makes some amazing shoulder pets) which does not consume sim prims, but will consume resources.

Yep. I had two pet foxes, five Koi fish, and four ducks all active on my parcel, before I had to cut back. They all use prim count, as well as scripted resources.
You could also have a friend wear a quad cat avatar, but I haven't seen many that look suitably small. That wouldn't use prims, but would be one more avatar in the sim to cope with, as well as having to coordinate with the other Resident for them to fulfil their role for your amusement. _____________________
Sorry, LL won't let me tell you where I sell my textures and where I offer my services as a sim builder. Ask me in-world.

Another thing you could do is invite some Neko friends over.
They may not cost you any prims at all, directly, but they can be a bit aloof at times and demanding of affection at others... _____________________

I asked my residents to not leave their pets in active mode when they are not around. It really made a big difference on sim resources, and really..why does a pet have to be moving around when no ones watching it? (or even out rezzed???)

Cats use up MUCH more prims than dogs in my opinion.

I had two boys move into my cave to roleplay bats, once. I was excited by it, but they abruptly moved after seeing me as a zombie

You don't want a cat.
Let me be teh voice of reason. They annoy teh neighbours. They attract coyotes. They get eaten by wolves. They mess up your furniture. They steal your breath when you are sleeping. And don't get a dog. They are equally as bad. Some people actually sleep with them on the bed which is gross. Dogs don't wipe their bums so fecal matter gets all on the sheets and in your face. _____________________

I've got one of these little cats ...
https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=517335 she's very cute and only 9 prims. Unlike RL cats, they don't poo in your salad bed or leave hairs all over the furniture. I have no idea how laggy she is as I live on mainland and we don't have adequate tools for assessing our personal script usage, but everything uses up prims (unless it's attached to your av) and every script will use up sim resources, so if a cat is what you want, then get a cat (unless it's against your estate covenant, of course). I do delete her when I go offline, just because I am afraid of her wandering off, but I must say, deleting her feels very wrong. _____________________

- she can walk and run randomly, come or follow you or any other selected avie, or go randomly to avies, give heads and purr, asking for attention I *think* I understand what the creator means by "give heads", but you can never be sure. _____________________

Zooby. The end. Not quite, Melita. Zooby's makes good pets, but I've always thought the dogs from Virtual Kennel Club had superior AI. Never bought one, though, because I abhor the way they price them. _____________________

+ 1 on the Kittenz, I have the tabby. 9 prims is a lot for a 512, but Tabigail has a spot in the prim budget. For the first week I keep a sim scanner next to her and kept checking for indications of lag, and I have seen none.
That "give heads" thing is where you are distracted by building and find yourself a few meters from where you started because the kitty has been pushing you around I first saw one in a shop, and I think they add a really nice touch. And I like that you can center them to the middle of a 5m range.A Nekko friend is another good option that Ive used myself, but I've found that there are no good scripted controls for them ![]() _____________________

I want a dog.
A chihuahua. When I get back to my small flat, I want to hear somebody bark. |
