I can't see any essential difference - it's is just a matter of scope to me. A virutal space has many more limitations than a virtual world. Although, I don't think I would class any virtual environment as a "world" if it didn't have an economy - to be a world it needs to be large enough to have a viable economy, which links it to the real world economy.

From: Pserendipity Daniels Pep (It's the interaction with other non-RPC avatars that turns a Virtual Space into a Virtual World.) This. Although, imagination can populate the virtual space and make it a virtual world, as well. /me waits for the inevitable dig about multiple personality.
