I don't wish to appear a smartass on this but ..
Try the roads :)

I've driven a dirty great articulated truck around most of the roads of Sansara. It's great fun.
Maybe driving in a convoy would be even more fun.
Some sim-crossings might see major pile-ups.

Search for groups involved with Trucks.

Can you get an 18-wheeler and drive around on the roads in SL? Kind of. You'll crash a lot at sim crossings.

Will driving truck in SL do anything other than waste time? Nope. No one actually needs delivery trucks or other freight haulers in SL, so what purpose would a "Trucker" serve? Background color? Most people teleport from point to point, and don't use the roads except for an occasional pleasure trip with a private vehicle.

Perhaps getting a moving van, and help everyone who has to move to Pornsylvania.

Do a search for the Greenlaners group. They have compiled a huge amount of info about the mainland roads. They have a few info centres dotted around. You'll find a pick for one of them in my profile.

I spent an evening with a Trucker in a hot tub once, does that count?

Evidently some truck stops have wireless.

He COULD make an avatar that LOOKS like a trucker.

I'm sure there's a lot of stained t-shirts, ball caps, and plaiid flannel shirts available.

What kind of truck?

One can find all manner of free vehicles for the taking in SL, and drive in many places.

If he means roleplay, then I don't really know where he can do that.

Arcadia Asylum gives away a great full perms Mack truck at her pawn shop in Calleta (bless her!). I have a version set up with some 'home comforts' in the container on the back.

The problem is driving about in SL: crossing sim borders will often throw any kind of vehicle out of whack, which is a real shame since I would happily spend my SL on the road. Got a sea green 1957 Triumph motorbike too, similarly equipped. Oh yeah, and a white van set up for kidnap and various forms of abuse (I'm a real charmer.)

Last time I took the truck out, I gave up driving and just parked up. A good truck stop sim would be a bonus for sad asses like me.

Idea: Combine several of these concepts

1. Build a truck stop/greasy spoon just outside your store
2. Load a bunch of illegal immigrant bots into the back of a truck
3. Drive it to the truck stop/greasy spoon and park it outside
4. Profit!

Hi folks good news. After this last round of server manipulations, sim crossing is as good or better than its ever been. Might just be time to dust off those favorite cars and give the highways another go.
Tip:
Its kinda pointless to travel faster than you can rez stuff, so slow down a tad and enjoy the view

Pilots have Abbotts. Sailors have Starboards. There really SHOULD be a truckstop sim somewhere. With flirty, buxom waitresses and good ol' boys in plaid shirts. And Waylon on the radio.

See? SL hasn't run out of ideas yet! :D

Yeah, I've noticed sim crossings being better in the past week or so myself, although occasionally you still run into issues, especially if you're carrying a passenger. (Who somehow got detached from the vehicle in her view, while I still saw her sitting in her seat and didn't realize anything was wrong until she IMed me asking what had happened. O.o)

Anyway, a few more tips. Maybe obvious, maybe not. Turn on View Property Lines. Those red lines might be all that stands between you and running into a banline should you lose the road and yet want to continue driving along on unpaved Protected Land. (There's quite a lot of this around in my experience, some of it quite uneven which is fun if you have a vehicle that controls well while bouncing off the terrain.) Also, if you're unfortunately like me and using an older computer, your normal draw distance might be too large for you to have a smooth driving experience as everything slows to a crawl. I turn my draw distance all the way down to 64m when driving, I don't see much of the view but at least it feels like I'm actually in control of the vehicle and not constantly oversteering due to lag.

I would suggest starting at Calleta, and driving the roads from there. I seem to recall seeing a truck stop around there a few years back.
