I got the idea for this from a post at SLUniverse requesting suggestions for good places for a first date in rl. I posted a message there and I'm getting some good responses so thought I'd try here. I'm writing an article for the blog Second Chick about locations in Second Life that are good for first dates. So...ever had a first date with someone(s) in SL? Maybe you can help. What are good places for a first date in SL? And why? I want to include both places where there's lots going on to fill up those awkward, silent moments we've all experienced on first dates as well as quieter spots for people who prefer that. Thanks!

Anywhere with a few poseballs will do.
Pep (usually finds that they're grateful if you can type their name correctly)

I'm partial to Inspire Space, because it is where I met my current sweetie. Also it has a variety of things to do: close cuddles floating through space, slow dances, wear a flight band and look for thier little hidden nooks, or several causal conversation areas.

From my experience in SL - guys hate fake eating dinner dates in SL. They Just don't get it. So I created a more interactive experience with a body sushi Restaurant (Nyotaimori (Japanese: 'Female body presentation' and nantaimori for male body)). The 'Human Platter' gets a sushi suit (male or female) and lays on the table. The diners touch the sushi and it is 'eaten' off the platter. Diners can be the platter or use a staff platter. There are DJs on the weekends and some Live performances from time to time. http://slurl.com/secondlife/QUEENDOM%20VILLAGE/80/221/23 .

So you can "fill up those awkward, silent moments" with slurping noises . . . Pep (and your date can get forewarning of what you look like when drool is running down your chin)

Exploring a sim you've not seen before can be a super way of spending time with a new friend (or an existing one for that matter).
Walking fair distances while pointing out interesting things, trying out interactive elements (especially if they don't work right), admiring a builder's skill is a great way to avoid having to "make" conversation, to find out the other person's likes and views, and to build shared experiences.
Besides, exploring is so much more fun when you're with someone.
I'd recommend real-world simulations like Chichen Iza and Mexico, Japan (Hosoi Ichiba), Cuba etc and avoid any major RP sims initially. I second Inspire Space.

From: Scott Savira Does this have something to do with vore? Vorarephilia:where arousal occurs from the idea of being eaten, eating another, or watching this process. The fantasy may include digestion. The word is derived from the Latin vorare to swallow or 'devour' and Ancient Greek 'love'. No, its not Vore-related. It's Nyotaimori: the practice of eating sashimi or sushi from the human body. .

I've had fun playing underwater at Bonny Cove. I've got a few mermaid AVs and Malaika offers a freebie tail and AO for guys. It's also a clever way to get their shirts off.

Take her to Tien LLung (formerly known as Hoini, the most romantic sim in SL, based on the 1001 Arabian Nights).
The Shahriya Pavillions on the lagoon are fantastic for both dinner for two, with views to die for, and a choice of smooth jazz, salsa, or ballroom dancing afterwards.
To complete the experience take her up to the Scheherazade Gardens at 700m, for one of the most beautiful spots in SL, plenty of romantic (not sex, just romantic) poseballs for couples to find.
Have fun,
Rock

Not very practical for most people, but my first date in SL was an invitation to a wedding. Wild night of dancing, followed by long conversations, met a lot of people who would later become my friends. I was totally hooked on this place and the residents. I don't suppose you find that every week here, though Jackie.

Some interesting suggestions here. The wedding sounds like real fun if you're lucky enough to get invited when you're planning a date. On the other hand, will your first date think you're too serious too soon?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Weddings are great . . . Pep ( . . . it's marriages that are disastrous)

The SL Botanical Gardens are a very nice place for a first date. There are some romantic spots but the focus of the sim is really designed for conversation and relaxation - which is (IMHO) what is called for on a first date when you are still getting to know someone.
There are lots of places to explore like waterfalls, caves, and an underwater mermaid grotto. Plus there are gondolas for you to take a guest around the waterways of the sim. There are some kiss animations and some couples dances in strategic locations.

Although after a year and a half, one can hardly call it a First Date, the Caves at Rua are marvelous!

Ahhh! Makes sense. The way I originally read that was someone was wearing a "sushi suit". So I got this imagine in my head of someone's girlfriend dressing up as a plate of sushi (tiny avatar) and being eaten by her boyfriend. Guess not. ^_^ Eating sashimi off the belly would be fun....

/self-promotion off I came into this thread, to post about the SL Botanical Gardens. I have been in SL for 2 years and ashamed to say I discovered it only this past weekend. I went there, looking for a Venus Flytrap (LOL) which I DID find but ended up staying for hours just awash in amazement at the wonderful, breathtakingly beautiful place that it is. I bought stuff yes but that's not why I stayed, I wasn't 'shopping' there were just some things, like a Fairy nap chair, that I couldn't resist. As I looked around this beautiful, incredible place, I found that mostly, Isablan was either the owner, the creator, or both. There are other 'big name' SL creators, like Lilith Heart, who have contributed to it's beauty. To me, this place is 'Pure SL', just a perfect place to see the beauty of what SL can be. Thanks Isablan for what you've done there. I know I will go back, again and again. What you said above in your quote, is just short and matter of fact but this place is just so much more than that.

First Dates....
I guess it depends on the type of first date you want:
Active/Fun Date: Weather Channel Dive World Prim Hearts
Romance/Talking: Inspire Space Park SL Botanical Gardens Chakryn Forest SS Galaxy Grand Ballroom (dancing and dining)
You could also try live music, if you know your date's musical tastes. There are loads of talented live performers nightly in SL.
