Havok 4 now on beta grid

I'm suprised no one's mentioned it yet... all the complaints about the antiquated Havok 1, and finally, version 4 on the horizon, and not a peep?

No bad after 4 years of waiting. However I wouldn't hold your breath seeing huge differences. The most potential will come possibly (if you believe the blogs) will be server stability and higher build heights (1024mtrs). There is no client side updates (so the reports say).

What is perhaps confusing, is LL suddenly spring this information on the general populous overnight. Ranting and ravings over the past years, dates promised been and gone, then Bam... I'm not complaining about its arrival, just the strategy of how they roll things out.

When LL actually come to put Havoc 4 code in place, how long is this likely to take? Will the servers be down for a day, 2 days, a week? Hard to plan things in advance without some pre-warning. Perhaps the timing may not be the best, considering the potential arrival of WindLight, I assume they are being tested together?

Lets all hope that the stability we have all been shouting for, is just on the visible horizon.

Meanwhile, I found a really cute vendor on the beta grid which sells "cam-bots" - little anims which sit on the POV point and reveal to others where you have sent your cam while you are looking all polite and standing still. Thing is, i can't find the product on the main grid! waaaahhh!

Back on topic.. SL down for a week for server upgrades? Usually it's down for about 6-8 hours, sans any problems. Aside from the known issues (mainly collision events and related functions not working), it seems fairly stable. There's a slightly noticable difference in the way physics is handled, but the main things to look for is better sim stability, better physics rendering, and more efficient physics calculations, creating less lag on the server when calculating physical objects.

Here is the script for it...you just need your own animal or prim camera or whatever you want to put this in.
The bad thing about this is it's hard to get once you have it working since you can't see it with your Avatar's camera. I have to get an Alt to help out.
