What are the new continents called? What is primarily on them? Were they comprised of "First Land"?
I noticed LL doesnt really do the roads on mainland anymore. Too bad.

Yoy've been gone quite a while, it seems. First Land has been a dead program for well over a year. No such thing any more.

Welcome back, Darron!
There is no longer any first land, hasn't been in quite some time. All the new mainland was sold in sim sized chunks at auction through the website. All of it, that is, other than the new areas of Bay City and Nautilus City. Those were parceled and the parcels (varying sizes in Bay City, all 1024's in Nautilus City) sold at auction. In those locations LL's Department of public works built a certain amount of infrastructure including roads and theme builds. Open spaces were also left, and all the resident owned parcels in those areas are allotted double prims. The newest addition mainland to the grid is the Blake Sea, which can be found to the East of Nautilus City. Several regions of open water, with some themed builds and additional underwater content too. There is a thread on the first page of this forum if you want to read more about it. It is a unique project because there are also private estates bordering it who share the sailing area as a common resource. Incidentally, as I understand it there are many road projects which are ongoing, so hopefully you will be finding more roads across the "new" mainland you are exploring. ![]() _____________________

Before you rent any estate land, you might want to read about the new Homestead regions. I don't know if Azure offers them, but it would be worth checking out the pros and cons of that type of land before you make a decision so that you can either seek it out of avoid it. **edit: There was quite a firestorm over the conversion of openspaces (which had been upgraded) to the new "Homestead" regions. Here is a link to two blog posts on the topic, but if you search the forums you will find MANY threads about them. http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/10/27/openspace-pricing-and-policy-changes/ http://blog.secondlife.com/2009/01/03/about-the-homestead-launch-and-script-limits/ _____________________

Just for the record, the First Land program ended almost two years ago.

All the new continents have roads, they are just harder to see because most of them are not paved yet. But if you use the map functions, roads are fairly easy to distinguish because they have jagged edges most of the way along.

They've done, if I'm counting correctly, five new routes, including a couple side routes. There's information about 'em offa http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Department_of_Public_Works _____________________

yet promoted all over the site and in the client for at least 8 months afterward, suckering in unsuspecting people to premium under the impression firstland was still happening.

I was just looking at the road routes, I didnt even know that they were Atoll to that extent. I knew there were a few roads, but that is awesome! I shall explore there some more, I like taking out my shadow car and a friend and going if lag isnt too horrible that day.
I thought i heard about first land ending while i was still playing, it had to have ended while i was still playing. I guess i was too consumed in my private estate rental to even bother listening to mainland issues. |

LL are doing roads, gradually. There are lots of 'protected routes' which are ribbons of green rough land that will become roads. I live beside one, in Yosu on Jeogeot, the southern mainland island. I would love to have a nice road passing my front door, as long as it's not on an embankment!!
