It's been over six months since I had a chance to update these maps, so this was a fairly major update. I didn't even keep track of all the changes.

Linden Lab Mainland Continents Map

Sansara & Heterocera Map

(See corrected map downthread)

If you have the map kiosks inworld, they should update within twelve hours.

Enjoy!

(Coming soon--a major "Big Damn Glossary" update.)

I can see my shop in the second map. Hi mom!

Thanks for all your work on this, Carl.

I Have this script, it displays up to 42x30 or 51x25 region images around your inworld location on up to 255 prims.
Thats half of an average mainland continent, displayed wearable.
It gets region names from one http database and images from another one.
It loads in roughly 15 seconds and causes 0.5 time dilation while doing so.
After that it is the best and most actual map of ANY sl location.

Because of the script-load a smaller 5x5 version is more usefull for a HUD.
An array of the large version could map the whole mainland relatively quickly.
It still needs lots of performance tweaks.

I c'n see my home, too!

Couple tings I noticed f'r ya, Carl.

1. Bay City Sound: this is the Gulf Of Lauren: the sims have that in their discription.

2. The Corn Field is just sound of the Gulf of Lauren: might be worth noting, esp. if Here is gonna be on it.

3. Speaking of, I believe Here is a privately owned island, property of Torley and Ravenelle.

Beautiful work, as always!

Great rework, Carl, thanks! Looks like the bay in Jeogeot is finally finished?

Why, so it is! Amazingly realistic coastline now on all the continents. I wonder how they maintain that.

It looks like I live on Nautilus now though I thought I was living on Satori. Thanks to Carl for letting us know where we really are. These maps don't take till next Thursday to load, and they are labeled.

Thanks, Carl! As always, great maps. (I scampered around earlier and updated the positioning of all my "You are here" markers.)

A big contribution to the Mainland. :)

They are 1024x1024 in world, but I can export them from AI and Photoshop at about four times that.

Thank you very much. I'm just sorry it took so long to get this set of updates out.

They use Openspace or Homestead water sims.

For some reason, LL didn't place a high priority of naming their land masses while they were rolling out Jeoget and Satori. And what was Nautilus versus Corsica was initially confusing, too. Jack Linden seems to do a lot better at this--though I still can't find a name for "New Continent".

Well--I couldn't have done them without having the LL inworld maps to work from.

It was one of the first projects in the whole LDPW push. They did a nice island there in the center of it.

Thank you Marianne. I will confirm then fix that. I could swear that I saw the Bay City Sound used as a proper name for that water. I'm sorry for the error. I'm not in the habit of just randomly naming stuff.

Thanks--I will add that next revision (which may be soon, as I need to fix the Bay City Sound error).

My understanding was that it was subsidized by LL for educational purposes. I will check into that. Its in a region of grid space reserved for LL projects, at least.

That sounds like a neat script. When you release it, I look forward to seeing it.

I just checked. The Cornfield is not accessible by teleport, so I'm going to pass on including it.

I vote for the 8th continent to be named "Pen-Island" because thats what it looks like and it will stay to look like a penis for a long time.

LindenWorld is also not accessible and you have it on there. Found out the hard way when searching for bears the other day.

I can't stop seeing that now that you said that. Well, at least it isn't like Florida. And limp.
