Advice from someone who has given up being a potential customer to scipters- for God's sake RESPOND to people making custom script inquiries. Is this so hard for scripters?

I agree with this whoile-heartedly. I have a script I have been trying to get written for nearly a year. I have had people ignore me, or make promises and never deliver.

The least you should do is tell your customers the truth. If you can't do it, say you can't do it. If you don't have time, say so.

For this particular script, I have been quoted anything from 0 Lindens to 40,000 LIndens. I have even agreed to be 50/50 partners. I have had several people who agreed to do it and I never heard from them again.

As far as permissions go, of course I want full perms. If you disappear from SL and I do not have the actual scripts and LL decides to change LSL, or whatever they decide to change that week, my product is hosed.

I also want exclusive rights to the script. But all these things should be agreed upon in advance.

Althgouh it is often difficult, there also needs to be a certain amount of trust between you and your customer. You will earn that from them over time.

BTW, it drives me NUTS when someone says "pay me what you think it's worth", or "what kind of price were you thinking?". To me, if it's YOUR speciality, I want YOU to tell me how much you want!!
I told you. US$60/hour, minimum, for short term custom contract programming, whether it's in SL or RL. The scripting I do in SL I do for fun, and it's generally things I'd be doing anyway.

Please do not take this the wrong way. You asked for advice and unfortunately some of it may not be pleasant, just realistic.

Ok, that's fair. That is what I came here for. But, here's a little bit of back story.

As far as the Tardis Teleporter Box Set goes, that's something I made in August. (After having signed up for SL in July.) I'd like to think that script works fairly well for something I made after only a couple weeks in Second Life. But I'd also like to think that I have learned more and improved since then.

As for the other one, I help manage a place with a Go-Kart track, which is great, but would be better if people would actually keep the Go-Karts on the track. So, late one night, I made something that would keep Go-Karts from leaving the track, but still let people through. And then I just thought, "Hmm, I wonder if anyone would buy this."

Cool! Just may want to create an alt account for the stuff that isn't your flagship creations. If you ever get into creating weapons that have greifer potentional; cage guns, orbiters, flea infestors, etc then create another alt for that. Actually there is a large market for that type of creations, you just don't want it coming back to your main account.
