What are the different classes in SL and how would you define them? Who makes up the low\ middle\upper classes? Do these classes have their own geographic areas in which they live, work and play? feel free to give examples of the haves, the have nots and the have mores. This should be interesting.

I think the classes go something like this: Griefers, bots, n00bs, renters, landowners, land barons, FIC, Lindens.

Ha interesting sociology question. Personally I think the class stratification only has two polarities with tourist in the middle, where people can usually fit into one catagory. Noob tourist resident Have mores, just as Marx would describe are the owners of production, land barrons, mall owners, etc. These can include some large profitable buisnesses like clubs, etc but these people flow in and out of the haves. And the have nots, well thats easy, they are still in their noob skin and body. _____________________

The Lindens are the "aristocracy".
The land barons (as the name suggests) and the owners of estates and malls etc are "upper middle class". Those who rent from the above are "lower middle class". Those who work for the above as escorts, security guards, dancers etc are "working class". Those, like me, who do nothing but wander around aimlessly are "sub-human scum" and "feckless idlers and wasters". _____________________

What is FIC? If you have to ask, you aren't one  Feted Inner Core, those with an "in" with the Lindens, either real or perceived. As to who might be FIC, that's a whole other discussion. |

I think every online community and/or computer game has claims of some sort of Inner group who are in tight with the guys who actually run the company. I have heard various umm "tellings" of the LL one which is the same as every other version I have heard. If was true or not in the past I can say without a doubt that its a total conspiracy theory now lol. Usually those that are supposed to be in it also add a little flavour to the thing make up their own name like this one and watch the rumours fly. Tis always fun to watch whether or not its true its still fun _____________________
I know the competition that will come along someday is learning from LL's mistakes. But do they have to make so many? |

The whole Purpose of Class is to Segregate people, To Elevate some while repressing others. This is done by restricting the freedoms of One class specificly because they belong to that Class.
The Only REAL Classes in SL seem to be those deliniated by LL, and the Only ones that Actually Effect peoples Freedom of movement, and that would be the Payment Info Verified's vs. the Unverifieds. Look at the land tools, Those are the only criteria that Can be used to exclude a Huge group of SL residents from your land. None of the other criteria, Shape and colour of an Avie (Analog for race), group memberships (Analog for Religion, or politics) Voice (Analog for Physical Differences), Not ANY of them can actually be used in Land Tools to Bar entry to your property. MONEY, As always is the ONLY true seperator of people. Angel. |

I see two classes of people in SL - people I know and people I don't. I further stratify that into people I like, people I don't like, and people I don't know well enough to have an opinion about.
