Hi

I want to run more than one instance of SL on my Mac. I followed the first idea at the link below for editing the "arguments.txt" document, but I still can't open more than one SL viewr at a time

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Help:Running_multiple_instances_of_the_Second_Life_client

There's a suggested second way to do it which I could not follow,as I can't see "system preferences - accounts" anywhere

Has anyone manged to do this - and please can they offer any help...

ctrl-click the Second Life Icon in your applications folder, a pop up menu appears, select 'show package contents' hope that helps.

Hi - yes I got that far by following the instructions in the link , and added the words -multiple into the "arguments.txt" document.

BUT it doesn't work!!

I still can only open ONE second life window

Any other help anyone?

Look at this thread, (hope it helps)

Also, if your looking for System Preferences, click on the small apple at the top left of your screen. Syst Prefs should be the 4rth one in the drop down... Accounts is near the bottom (two black heads)

Aha - thanks for that. Just to clarify fot anyone else trying multiple instances of SL on a Mac:

The SL wiki fails to mention STEP SEVEN of their instructions...

Steps one to six are

1 Find the client in Finder (usually "Second Life.app";)
2 Right-click and select "Show Package Contents"
3 Open the Contents folder
4 Open the Resources folder
5 Open the "arguments.txt" file for editing
6 Add "-multiple" to the "arguments.txt" file and Save

Step seven - go to applications and DUPLICATE the SL application. Now you can run the original AND the duplicate at the same time...

Thanks Isabeau

Also.. sorry about the "preferences" blind spot.. I thought they meant preferences and accounts in SL, not Mac users !!! Doh
