What is there to do in SL?

Sorting inventory.

well my all time favorite is to Just Be. Many dont understand that one but to be able to just be is the most excellent thing.

Buying land.
Building galleries to live in.

And teh sex thing. Yeah, that also...

Meeting people from around the world. from countries you may never be able to visit, but still it is an opportunity to learn and explore.

my favorite is Exploring... so many different people places, ideas, creative endeavors...

Dancing? No one has said dancing? (I know Jig doesn't get that one.)

Other things I've done:

Walk into American Beagle Outfitters and complain that they have no outfits actually for beagles.

Go to a furniture store and get on the furniture when you think no humans are looking.

Chase the train in Caledon.

Dive into the snow drifts in Livingtree.

Arrive at Dinosaurs Park and be chased by velociraptors.

(Okay I guess many of those are covered under role play.)

Use SL as a simple 3d sketch pad.

Attend author readings.

Enjoy everyone's creativity and share a little of your own.

Become a rhinoceros or perhaps a mushroom. Amaze your friends!

My kind of person!! I just spent about 3 hours tonight going through unopened gifts from a hunt and love every minute.

(One of these days I'm going to figure out how to turn that into a business )

I haven't read the rest of the responses, so forgive me if I repeat some:

*Going on quests: The Pot Healer's Quest took us about 3-4 months on and off; Octoberville's yearly Halloween Hunt is very challenging

*You mentioned role-play which can take many forms, but if you've never been there, the Isle of Wyrms is fascinating and I enjoy the mermaid sims and Elven sims

*Horseback riding

*Owning and training a VKC dog (no, I don't work for them, but I *think* the VKC dogs are still the only ones with artificial intelligence. I attended a 6-week training class which was a lot of fun and a real community exists around the VKC dogs.

*Dancing - I'm partial to ballroom and jazz...but any dancing can be fun

*Decorating a home or piece of land

*I'm active in my faith on SL - another great community

*I understand the Just Being thing, Bec, and you have a good point. Sometimes just sitting in my SL home and thinking relaxes me.

*I don't know how I managed to forget teaching and taking classes!!! Thanks, Immy...those are really my two most favorite things!!

*For me, the sex thing...meh. After a year or so of watching pretty much the same animations...it just loses something in translation.

*I've had this wild thought lately...or as wild as I get...lol...to go to one of the capture Gorean sims and act clueless and see if I got captured. But then, I'm *very* knowledgeable about Gor, having participated in it for over 15 years on IRC, so I think it would be hard for me to do. It would be funny though to send an IM to my Partner: "I'm being held captive by "XYZ Gorean sim." The downsides of this idea, other than being stupid, is that the Gorean communities I belonged to didn't believe in forced capture/collar/face-stripping/killing, so I'd be going against my instincts and I don't think my Partner would think it was amusing.

Go to an infohub and spew annoying audio and chat gestures.

Streak Linden Village

Build an upside-down room and live on the ceiling for a week.

Get several party particle poofers and wear them EVERYWHERE

Make a REALLY bright facelight with six emitters and give it away as a freebie. Copy/Trans/NoMod.

Damage enable your land, and run an ad for Free Lindens. Conduct target practice.

Set the arrival point on your land at 2000m and make it No Fly. See how many visitors manage to put on a parachute before they hit.

Go to a Linden's Office Hours.

Get a bunch of friends together. Wear skates and Collider Death animations and play Snuff Roller Derby

Everything's better with friends...when you get tired of Roller Derby, have everyone put on chicken suits and go visit stuffy places like Frank's. Or hold a Pogo Stick parade.
