I'm still wondering *exactly* the full list of things that can give a sim owner a person's IP/ISP in Second Life. I had thought it was only streaming video, or a DJ's music stream. Most sims have music streams. There is no way to know if they use their own or one off some website.
Kum, how does one make sure a website registration is completely private?

I pay for my web site to be Private except for the tecnical contact witch is just the site LLC and the e-mail for the site catch all.
I use godaddy for all my sites some have all the info but they are not ones I advert where I wouldn't want people to find me. some do it free .. its normaly in your hosting account stuff, you may have to cll and ask about it .. listing it as Private. Besides me saying this most wont bother to go through all that trouble either .. |

Paid the money and got an email saying that Domain by Proxy is all that will show up now. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. Sheesh. |

I work in RL for a major ISP, and I would not worry about somebody having my IP address because A). My SO has a mini-30 semi automatic rifle and (more importantly):
B). No ISP is going to disclose any information about a subscriber without a subpoena even to the FBI, MPIA, Sony, you name it. Anybody off the street requesting an ISP to provide subscriber information without one will be ignored. _____________________

BUT OF COURSE IF YOUR SELLING OR RE SELLING DOMAINS YOU NEED SOMETHING THERE Dytska that's what I was trying to say somewhere in my posting that they need a court ordered subpoena and there isn't really any good info you can get from an IP nor ISP and every site you visit can get your IP.. unless your running on a Proxy.. IP addresses are what make the web work as well as your home network etc. |

Hell, that isn't any more info that I usually give people and if you can find me, from this avatar name, in a group of 55k people then I want to be your Business Manager and we are going to make some money.

Even in a city of 100k, there are only a few grocery stores and if you have an idea of where i live, like my zip code (which is not in the city), you can easily extrapolate where i do my grocery shopping, or where my kids go to school since there are only a couple choices and if you read any of my posts elsewhere then you would know that for my kids there is only 1 school they can attend here. 55k is a small city, but still, 1 head can be picked out among the crowd by a single person investing a few hours of patience. Thankfully my ISP dns look up info, or whatever it is called (the info from here: http://www.whatismyip.com/tools/user-agent-info.asp) shows the wrong zip code for me, which is great.
