The thread on realistic avatars reminded me of some of the strange and other worldly skins I have see. Ones where people seem to be clouds of stars on there skins. Or very strange vibrant face and body paints. Thing that jsut make me stop and go "this is what sl is for." Does anyone know any good shops for skins that are strange, fantasic, or just works of art?

I have a pretty wide selection of non-human skins - metals, scales, water, plant, meat, and so on. You can find them at my store in Freelon if you're so inclined. They don't sell as well as my human skins, but they're more fun to make. Have a look if you're so inclined. You can find a landmark in my profile picks. (And apologies for the self-promotion).

Nomine has/had some nice colorful fantasy skins. Including a few which were made to look like the night sky. And available in male and female.
Panjen also has a nice selection of blue and green skins available. At very reasonable prices to boot. Female only unfortunately. Also..."E's Handpainted Skins, Eyes, etc" has a nice selection of Drow/Dark Elf skins in both genders. _____________________

I have thought of doing colored skins but not sure how well they will sell, and right now, prims are sort of limited and reserved for other things in the work

I found the 'etheria' range from Sin Skins very nice. They have a wide selection of colours and they are just gorgeous. At least I am pretty sure they are called etheria. I don't know fo rcertain unless I check my inventory for the demos, and I can't atm.
I liked Panjen skins too. My main 'normal' skin is from there. I love it. They have a lovely 'Dark Elf' in 5 different shades. Nice prices there too. ![]() _____________________

Grendel's has any number of non-human skins in a variety of themes - insectoid, mammal, elemental, demonic and technological. They're mostly sold as complete avatars, but all are very good value, often cheaper than a separate skin. The 'virus' skins are interesting... black with neon circuit traces on them, sort of TRON-like.
Also, most of the latex retailers sell full latex skins in all colours and some in patterns. I'm a big fan of Chip's Fantaskins and use the copper one for a 'human statue' av. Thanks for the great work, Chip! _____________________

(other staff cant place what you mean either) Ahh, I should have put a new paragraph there. I meant latex retailers in general, not vendors within Grendels. Sorry for the confusion! *goes back and edits it to make sense* _____________________

I haven't checked recently, but SS labs was making a carbon fiber skin that I was drooling over last year.
I need to go over there and see if there is anything new. |

Yes, Zoe has fabulous neko skins.
Try Grendel's Children for "different" avatars and skins. They have it all in that department. _____________________

The free infected skins from the I am Legend sim are fun, and if you hunt around in that sim there is an even better one to be found if you like the mildy rotted look!

Thanks everyone I'll go check them all out. Well other then grendle's becasue Flea has already got far to much of my money *laughs*
But I was talking more of just skins not full avatars. But since it has been brought up i'll pimp the very awesome place I found the other day By Yoa Ogee's. The only way I can discribe them is they are like if you had an acid trip and decided to build an avatar. Some peole find them scarey others love them but they are definatly creative and colorful |

I once saw an absolutely incredible huge bird, twice as big as any other beast I've ever seen. It was a sort of blue-black colour with bling on the tips of its wings. I don't know who made it, but it was called a Rarie I think. I saw it on one of those very high sky platforms and it was surrounded by a crowd of avs and beasts all admiring it, but there was something wrong with its flight because it got accidentally nudged off the edge and the last I heard it was warbling mournfully to itself as it fell down, feebly flapping its wings and unable to get back up again. I never saw it again - does anybody know where you can get them? It was a super design.
