This probably has been discussed before but I am having hard time with search. I am debating on vending system versus begging, waiting for friend to make one. I want something that is extremely easy to use that is low lag producing, can vend textures but shows display watermarked textures but sells another? Also considering something that displays objects, possibly display 3d images. Also added bonus if it could split profits and pay multiple avatars. Does this exist? I have tried and failed to use the freebie versions. I just don't get them. Who in your opinion makes the best that doesn't take percentage of what is bought? How much do these items usually cost? How do they work? Could someone without any scripting experience use them? Thank you in advance, FD Spark

I have used HippoVend in the past. There is good documentation on setup and managment. Other than placing the objects in the server prim and putting out the vendor boards, everything can be done via the web page. One time price; res all the servers and vendors you want or use the free version which takes 5% cut of sales L$100 or more. I can't remember the actual numbers, you could look up their web site and see.
The only thing is, I don't think they have a holographic vendor for 3D objects that you are wanting. Again, I could be wrong; since I did not need one I never bothered to look.

I have the Jevn networked system. I'm not the smartest person in the world and was able to get up and running in no time. One thing I like is I can go anywhere, throw down a vendor, connect to the remote server and I'm live.

I did a search on Jevn and found this site that says Jevn's servers were hacked by exploit the person who found it sold it off to others. Sounds pretty scary. Anyone know about this? http://blog.rebang.com/index.php?p=495

hmm... if you hacked my server you would get a no-transfer version of the castles so wouldn't do them much good.

I see more JEVN vendors down than any other, which is enough for me to never use them. I've been using Hippotech vendors and find them easy. You can make your own physical vendor or choose from a number of theirs and customize them. And as said above, much magic is weaved through a web interface. And Hippotech is always improving their stuff -- great customer support.
Good luck!

I don't think any of them are going to be very difficult. The card where you list your items, prices, description, etc. is the worst.
I use hippovend for my mall and it wasn't very difficult.

You should try the Onrez vendors. FREE, web-based, you can split profits with friends, customize vendors, customize vendor packs... I'm sure I'm missing some of the benefits besides those. I've been using them exclusively for the past month and am quite happy. The only thing they don't do is email me every time I get a sale and I did like that about Hippotech and KDC. But my email is a lot easier to navigate and my messages don't get capped as often. I can just check all my sales on the shop.onrez.com site. They even give me a bar chart that shows me how many sales I made in-world and on the site. Hippotech is great because of the keyless system that allows you to rez multiple servers for backup, but I don't think Onrez uses the keys on the servers so if they accidentally go to your inventory, I *think* they will work again after you rez them. JEVN and KDC servers go boom if they go to your inventory. One problem with Hippotech is the set-up on their website. Tedious, no batch set up like Onrez. Another was how difficult it seemed to just set out a vendor. Register, unregister, set up on website, turn on, turn off... bleh. Gave me a headache. I still don't think I know how to do it properly. Anyways, these are my recent experiences and opinions, take 'em or leave 'em.

Along with this 'simple vendor' idea....I really need something that can temp rez my mini castles (10x10) for display. Before my last bf kicked me to the curb he let me use a very cool display he had where people pushed a button in front and it rezzed the castle. Unfortunately his ex was loving his money more than I did and well.....thats another story I know Jevn has some kind of rezzer.

I use the jevn and I like the catalogue option as well. and people do take the catalogue which is cool
as for selling the textures but displaying a watermark, just box the texture you want to sell, and use the watermarked one for the ad

"This entry was posted Wednesday, December 14th, 2005 at 2:54 pm" The JEVN system has been updated numerous times since then. I have been using it for well over a year without a single problem. If there was a breach back then, I am sure that it was fixed long ago.

There is a shop called Sirius Creations, that sells a holo vendor add-on for both JEVN and hippoVEND systems. You could probably contact the owner for more information.

Since Day 1 I've been using the HiroVendors. Only issue I've had is if you get alot of shoppers, the scripts store sales & it stops dispensing when the script reaches it's memory limit. At least it guarantees my stopping in to clear the list every so often.

Before going to hippoVEND, I used Moopf Murray's Giftopf NG. It is a nice, inexpensive simple system that allows people to purchase for friends. It also has a holovending option. The problem is scale - if you start putting lots of vendors out there, you are better off with a networked vendor such as hippoVEND, so that you don't have to tp around and make tons of copies of the vendor.
As for hippoVEND, there are a lot of advanced options but the basic setup is very easy. It's very straightforward and written in simple English. It's a little voluminous, but a little patience is well rewarded.

I've been pretty pleased so far with the Cool Vendor. Found it on SLX for 500L. Make as many as you want. Haven't seen any of the OP's requirements that it won't handle. Worth a check.

Would it be bad from to mention one's own vendors here - the IntelliVendor and the new UniVendor? They are not networked, so they may not be suitable in all situations, but they are just one prim, will pay commission to another person, and are easy to use. I am usually happy to edit the script of the IntelliVendor ('copy' version) at no extra cost if someone particularly wants a certain feature ... floating text, dedicated clothes vendor, limited edition vendor, etc ... it's about time I did a Holo version

i vote for hippo vend here.. it is not without its quirks, as one poster said the vendor set up routine is a little awkward.. but once you figure it out its quite repeatable...
1 rez the vendor .. accept the take money prompts
2. change the name .. touch - reset. or go the SL client menu - reset scripts in selection.
3. accept the take money prompts again..
then you are off to the races.. not to sound like an ad for hippo vend here are the features i find most useful.. and let me just say that many features keep popping up on the web interface and its always a treat to discover them.. smart common sense stuff.
-IM add on. send an IM to individual customers or groups with one click -Sales log . very good grouping and filtering capabilities -product ranges, vendor groups, and product tags allow for splitting in any number of ways between many people in a multitude of different ways(I have some stuff being split 5 ways that was quite easy to set up) -very good uptime
if you are ever interested in rentals the hippo rent is now available from the same web interface.. genius..
I tried the Jevn first but didn't love it, it was ok but not for the price.

I actually use..
- Apez so others can resell my items in their stores - Onrez in my low prim allowance shops. Also means items are available for sale on Onrez. - Hippovend to allow people to buy/send as a gift, without needing an account at Onrez etc
All three have their benefits. I could probably get rid of the Onrez ones, but they were free and were already set up before I got the Hippo.

I don't use vendors in my store anymore but when I did I used the ones from ONREZ and I loved them. As has been already said they are easy to use and you get your items listed on ONREZ in just a few steps.
Something that works and is free is always a good thing.

I mainly create textures, paintings, plants and sometimes objects, clothes so I am not sure would be best way yet how show multiple things. Issue is with textures there is lot of hassles. I was also reading about this memory limit with certain vending systems. What does that mean? Also okay I understand how to make basic prim container vendors and use. Yet what are the uses, advantages, disadvantages for network versus not networked? How are they secure or how do they work? I am just researching right now. I tried hiro's free system and another freebie bit back but couldn't figure it out. Metamart system is easy to use once I figured it out but its been a long time since I used it because I was working on improving content but few items I had there never really sold. I haven't been able to figure out how to use SLX or Onrez it just doesn't seem to register but I keep trying to figure out what products would be good enough to even put up there. Any suggestions of what would be good things to do if you're a artist? My clothing and skin making skills with uv suits still really suck but I do make good clothes in world with textures I make, other textures for objects, plants, and buildings, etc.
