What's your favorite SL social crowd size? Assume you don't know people and all of them are human (as opposed to bots), how big do you like your social gatherings? If you pop into a new venue, how many people are optimal for socializing?

Well, I sort of cut my teeth in SL at a place where there might quite conceivably be up to 30 people around, and I quite liked that. But on the whole, 5 to 7 seems optimal. Large enough to get some diversity of personalities, and small enough that you can still all be engaged in one conversation together.

Medium sized crowds (11-15) for me in most circumstances. Small enough that I can feel comfortable in socializing, and large enough to blend in with a bit I guess.

For a dance venue I prefer smaller, "everyone-knows-my-name" types, so I chose 8-10.
For personal socializing I prefer one-on-one. _____________________

I definitely prefer small gatherings - 7 or less, not including myself. When it gets much larger than that, I can't follow the steady stream of text chatter, and I may as well not bother, unless I break off into an IM conversation with one or two individuals, and ignore everyone else's open chat in the area.

To answer my own question, 11-15. I kinda suck at conversation, so I don't like to feel pressured to fill the quiet moments, so I prefer a good sized crowd with lots to talk about.
