There is literally nothing to it, to run one unscripted. Just get a copy of testclient from the OpenMetaverse library and launch it. Once you are logged in you can type help for a list of commands, you can set a control avatar (master) that the bot will obey commands from. Tell them to walk some place, sit on something, say something, you can control them completely from your "master" account. The bot needs it's own account of course. I run a ton of them in my OpenSims, they are great for playing with how many prims and agents you can have active in a region before it starts lagging the server. Someone in another thread mentioned you can get the chat script in XStreet for 20L, or in world for free. I haven't played with it yet, but I can't see it being terribly difficult to set up.
Patasha, I realize this is probably one of those "dumb as a rock" questions...
It sounds as though I could use the OpenMetaverse testclient to log in any existing (or new) alt accounts. Could I later log the same account in on the regular viewer (after logging off, of course) and use the same account normally?
I guess what I'm asking is, logging in as a bot isn't going to make my account a bot for ever and ever, is it? I can't see how it could, but I'm ever cautious...
