What do you think? Time for a change?
"You Have Been Ejected from ****** Group"
Dont you think the work Ejected sounds a bit harsh? Even "Removed" sound a bit better, I mean it not always a bad reason you have to take people off your groups, for example my rental tenants who have moved on. I know when I take them off the group I feel bad when I know they will recieve that message :(
Whats your opinion? And where can we offer other wording options to Lindenlabs ?
cheers all.

It would be nice if you could have a custom message and I agree with you about it sounding harsh, in the terms of rentals it would be nice to have a message along the lines of "Thank you for your custom".

Maybe the newest Linden will see what you've written here and 'take it upstairs', so to speak. I agree that some other options to 'ejected' would be best. Ejected is for someone who causes trouble or their actions are disruptive, or it should be.

I sure hope at least a couple of other choices can be offered someday.

Yes "removed" is a heap more diplomatic than "ejected" and a little simpler than "unsubsribed" perhaps for limited English speaking residents :)

How about?

Get the %#@* out and stay out!!

Here's a thought.

Don't you think they have better things to do then change the word eject so people don't get their widdle feelings hurt?

If you're going to get together then do it on something really meaningful in what's really needed in sl. Trust me, you won't be lacking in finding things better suited that require [Lindens] attention a lot better then trying for diplomatic formality.

Agreeing - and I like the custom message thought - further - let's eject negative, condescending replies.

This is exactly the kind of trivial low hanging fruit issue that Linden Lab would resolve with great fan fair including a First Look viewer, several blog posts and a Torley Linden tutorial.
Also seeing that they would break 3 things by fixing this 1 we could look forward to months of the ‘pro-Ejected from’ crowed whipping up a frenzy in the forum with post and polls claiming that this has now ruined their Second Life forever! :p

Yep it's just crazy how much some people oppose any change even if by their own words it doesn't effect them, they still oppose changes others want. :P
These are the people that would still have us running viewer 1.0.0 in the year 2020 if they had their way :P

Isn't there anyone in your life that can remind you to take your meds, Ricardo?

The OP's suggestion is extremely valid and useful and would take the folks "upstairs" about all of 15 seconds to implement. Would certainly be a nice 'upgrade' among all those weighty ones that never seem to would out quite right in the end.

Take a pill, dude.

(Oh, darn, I'm sure my use of the word "dude" will have you all in a tizzy now, too)

I think It would be nice to have a Custom message, then you could be as nice or as nasty as you felt necessary. I am sure it would be a point of contention though as no doubt some people would get VERY Nasty..

In the mean time... send a notecard thanking them for having been a member of the group.

About the only time I remove/dismiss/eject someone from a group I manage is when they are being bad, so I like the message they get just fine. Being able to customize it to be a tad more harsh would be fine with me, too.

Think I am being mean? Try telling that to me after you've had to eject numerous people who join something clearly labelled "Help Forum" simply to spam it with their new wonder product or store location. More than likely, they are bots, but even then, I don't care how harsh it sounds; it can't be harsh enough for that crap.

I would agree that it seems a bit harsh. I had to take a few people off mine and I felt really bad about it, but it was necessary. It wasn't for any purpose other than then they no longer needed access to my land perms, but it still felt like a mean thing to do. I love the idea of having a custom message!

Custom message would be nice.

The thing is, you HAVE been EJECTED from the group.
If you wanted to leave, you would simply leave.
If someone has ejected you, it's supposed to sound harsh...

It's fine - that's what has happened, after all. It's good practise for not being overly sensitive.

No, you have been *removed* from the group, and that's what the message should say.

You did not fly out like a pilot from a burning jet aircraft.

There are a number of reasons for removing someone from a group that are not negative, and it was foolish of LL to assume that any time we remove someone from a group, we want them to get a message with a negative tone.

I agree with the OP: the message should be changed. A custom message would be great, as well, but it's not important to me.

Think of the group as an airplane that is about to crash into the side of a mountain. Eject is good.

Can we add, "with malice aforethought" to it?

What fun if a one was struck with a mandatory Linden-enforced "ejected" script the moment they got the announcement...something that would toss them upward for a second or two, with a rough, and ungraceful return to the ground as a final statement to their ejection.

I'd join groups just to get ejected at that rate...and what a topic of conversation, as you watch a friend bounce away momentarily...

Not true... I've received the message when groups were shut down, either for good or to re-form, when leaving rental properties and other quite legitimate reasons.

The first time I got the message, I freaked out, thinking I'd done something wrong... lol

Now I know better, but it's still a harsh message...

Oh, you're right, my bad. This issue of removing the word "eject" is something that the sl world should stop for. There's nothing more important at the moment then this mean ol' word just tearing terribly into the minds of sl's population. Now how did this word "eject" ever get past linden?

I mean, this is something that's "extremely valid and useful" for them to consider. And yes, it would be a nice "upgrade" this way no one gets their sensitive little feelings hurt in the process.

What in the world was I thinking? Let me make amends, how about we begin a long list with lots more trivial things to bring to Lindens attention. I'm sure if everyone tries real hard we can find some more, no?
